One of the Best 2D Platformers Returns in 2027 with a Focus on Online Multiplayer

If you're a real one, you'll know that N++ is one of the best platformers on PS4. Well, developer Metanet Software is finally ready to reveal what comes next.

The next game from the studio is called N Plus Infinity Times Two, and it's coming to PS5 in 2027:

As with all the games in the N series, this new entry is a 2D, momentum-based platformer with some of the slickest movement you'll find in the genre.

Unlike its predecessors, however, N Plus Infinity Times Two is focused mainly (though not entirely) on multiplayer.

The studio says it has taken the core of its series and "remixed it from the ground up as the ultimate virtual couch party", with various co-op and competitive multiplayer modes included.

There will be a solo campaign, but there's an emphasis this time around on playing with others. You can either buddy up with friends — online or on the couch — or matchmake with strangers.

N Plus Infinity Times Two is set to include five multiplayer modes, all centred around the simple goal of reaching the exit of each stage, but with some fun twists that mean it's probably not that straightforward.

It won't be out for a while, but I can tell you based on N++ that this is going to be really good. There are no other games that feel quite like Metanet's stylish stick-figure platformers, so I'm really pleased to see another one is on the horizon.
