IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios have announced new sales information for the super well-received revival of James Bond, 007 First Light.

In its first week, the game has reached over 2.7 million copies sold, according to the companies. The figure has also been shared on socials:

"Your support means the world to us, and we can’t thank you enough for being part of this journey," the post reads.

Having sold 1.5 million units on day one, we knew it had a great start, and it's carried forward a healthy momentum in its opening week.

The best part is that the game is far from done. As well as a Nintendo Switch 2 port coming soon, the game itself is set to receive a vast amount of post-launch content and updates, giving players lots of reasons to continue playing long after the story mode is finished.

The only thing spoiling the action adventure's big success is Amazon's confusing statements about potential sequels; all it's really said is that it'll take over as publisher, but it's left fans worried that development duties will be taken away from IOI despite the team knocking it out of the park.

I don't think that's the case. I'm sure IOI will be kept on to execute its vision for James Bond in future games, as it's clear the studio is perfectly suited to not only making a great campaign, but also a game that lives on and keeps players engaged.

At the very least, we can say 007 First Light has smashed it. Have you been playing? Tell us in the comments section below.
