Given the sheer amount of indie horror game trailers uploaded to the PlayStation YouTube channel on a weekly basis, it is very easy to glaze over them all. However, this one has caught my eye: Perceptum has you play as a Medium looking into a missing family inside an empty house.
A case the police have given up on, you use a pocket mirror to reveal secrets and ghosts.
It plays on the question: "Ever get the feeling you're being watched?" Perceptum is designed around this, and it's coming to PS5 in 2027. The studio, Duck Reaction, says the title is meant to last around three hours and is all about "discomfort, uncertainty, and the feeling that something is always just out of sight".

The pocket mirror is considered your main tool in the game, as there's no way to fight back against what you encounter. It reveals "hidden traces" and things you wouldn't normally see with the naked eye. Speaking of which, it seems there's some sort of mechanic where you close your eyes in-game. It appears to be a risk-reward system where closing them reveals the path ahead, but also leaves you completely defenceless.
I like the look of this one, especially as something to look forward to once Silent Hill: Townfall launches later this year. I think there's some real promise here, but the proof will be in the final version next year on PS5. For now, there's a playtest you can request access to on PC.

I’m definitely down for this. Let’s see the walking sim genre rise again!
I will absolutely check it out but the majority of horror walking sims are terrible so I'm not holding my breath. Hopefully this is one of the few good ones.
Damn, us Horror fans having been eating so good recently!
