Rumoured PS5 State of Play Looking Impossible This Week 1

Very reliable sources had hinted a State of Play could take place this week, on 16th April, but we’ve now comfortably passed the window where it looks likely to take place.

While there is a slim possibility of Sony announcing and hosting the show on the same day, this would be out of character for the company, which almost always gives at least 24 hours notice.

Rock-solid snoop Nate the Hate had said the date of the potential event could take place on 16th April, but he did emphasise that this information was unconfirmed.

He later followed up saying he’d been unable to lock this date down.

But at this point, it seems impossible. Some timezones have already entered 16th April as we publish this, and there’s been no communication from Sony.

It’s possible this information got mixed up with Xbox’s Metro 2039 livestream, which is scheduled for later today. There’s also the Galaxies Gaming Showcase planned for 16th April as well.

To be honest, we were always befuddled by the speculation, simply because we’re too close to the summer now.

A June State of Play is expected ahead of the Summer Game Fest festivities; is there really enough content to host one in April as well?

While the original rumour did lean towards third-party announcements, surely those major publishers are all looking towards the warmer months?

Obviously we’ll have to wait and see what happens here; perhaps a State of Play really is imminent, as originally reported. We’re almost certain there’s not one happening on 16th April now, though.
