Not surprised Peter Serafinowicz blagged himself a role in this, he's a souls fan, and thats also how he got a role in Dark Souls 2!

Still struggle to see how Elden Ring could be put to screen but I didn't know Alex Garland was involved so my faith for the project has sky rocketed.

Cailee Spaeny is a nice get.

Does “filmed for IMAX” mean it will only show in IMAX theaters?

That would not be cool, especially since another Publication (Polygon) claims they are not even using IMAX cameras.

Too bad not an HBO series considering how big the game is and how many diverse areas there are. I wonder if FromSoft is working on new material (perhaps another DLC?) in anticipation of the movie.

Seeing lots of people Garland has already worked with. Would love to see who these people are playing.

@gamer153 No, they'll release it normally as well. It's easier to film for IMAX and edit the framing for normal releases than the other way around. The aspect ratios are different and IMAX has a higher resolution.

@ECharles I think with the release of Nightreign that is very unlikely plus they are still working on Duskbloods, and think there were rumours they'd started pre-production on a Elden Ring 2 (pinch of salt required)

He was Q too for the Daniel Craig bond movies. And also in Layer Cake with Craig.

@Scottyy Garland has spoken previously about how he wants to help usher in a new wave of Hollywood. I'm tired of seeing the same 20 actors in roles, more than happy to see experimentation with this and the new Zelda film.

@Oram77 Alex Garland can be hit or miss for me but I'm mostly unsure of how an Elden Ring movie works unless it's during the main events prior to the game.

2028? This must be launching same day as Tarnished Edition on Switch 2...😉

Looks like a solid cast and Alex Garland also has a solid track record from Ex Machina, Anihilation, Civil War, Warfare, Dredd (as a writer), and 28 Weeks & Years Later ( as a writer).

@nessisonett He was only a story supervisor for DmC. But he co-wrote Enslaved: Odyssey to the West.

They didn't cast any of the "actors that appear in everything" so I feel they're moving in the right direction.

So exciting. Miyazaki’s involved, Garland is a great writer/director and a real gamer, the cast looks awesome, sounds like a good budget (not too too big or small)…this could shape up nicely. I expect it will focus more on the lore and political intrigue of the game rather than what we as players actually played but who knows.
