In case you weren't aware, FromSoftware's brilliant action game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is getting its own anime, and a brand new trailer for it has just been released.
Announced last year, Sekiro: No Defeat is an anime adaptation of the intense title, and it looks and feels pitch perfect with a great style that really captures the game's mood.
Here's the new trailer:
The anime is set to stream worldwide exclusively on Crunchyroll, while it'll also be getting a theatrical release in Japan.
There's still no date attached, but it's set for release later this year.
Set in Sengoku era Japan, the anime essentially recounts the story found in the game, though obviously tells it more overtly with a greater emphasis on characters. Here's the official blurb:
Japan is fractured into many independent nations entangled in ceaseless war. At the center lies Ashina, a land of sacred earth and ancient mystery. Two decades after Sword Saint Isshin Ashina reclaimed the region in a brutal coup, a new threat emerges from within: The Interior Ministry. Desperate to protect his homeland, Isshin’s grandson Genichiro turns to forbidden powers. The only hope lies in a kidnapped boy — the Divine Heir — and his silent protector: a loyal shinobi known only as Sekiro.
This is the story of a lord and his retainer — and their quest to restore balance to a nation on the edge.
We love the way the anime looks. Hopefully it isn't too far off, but we suppose we could always replay the game to get ourselves ready.

I tried to watch the anime trailer, but after pressing play I immediately sustained severe injuries and got rushed to a hospital.
As soon as I saw isshin it brought back painful memories of the final boss
I don’t really watch anime but will definitely be checking this out, one of my all time favorite games.
I legit forgot about the anime but I'm excited for it nonetheless.
Never did die that 2nd time? Need a sequel~
Looks good, I might even be able to get past the name Crunchyroll for this
I lived this, but it might be nice to sit back and watch it.
@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN Thought this might be something that interests you, think you’ll watch it?

@Metonymy Definitely. Looks right up my street. How about you?
@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN Yeah I’ll make an effort to. Looks really cool!
@Metonymy Do you think you'll play through the game again, perhaps, to refresh your memory? Perhaps take on that final boss again or even go for the easier alternative final boss option, which was the path I chose to undertake. And definitely use that op weapon that unlocks towards the end of the game that you said you didn't notice before.
@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN As much as I think I’ve made peace with not finishing the game, it does still bother me! I’d like to, go back and finish it proper, but we’ll see what ‘time’ has to say about it. It might be the case that watching this pushes me over the edge.
