Make Your Code Vein 2 Character on PS5 Now, So You Can Get Straight to the Action Next Week 1

It’s the eternal dilemma of any game with a character creator: you want to spend time making a protagonist you’ll love, but you also want to get straight to the action.

Fortunately, publisher Bandai Namco has a solution: it’s released Code Vein 2’s character creator today, as part of a free download on the PS Store. You can build your protagonist now, save it to your system, and then import it into the full game when it releases, on 30th January.

You can download the demo through here to get started. Heck, you can even take photos of your creation to share on social media.

Code Vein was such an underrated souls-like at launch. One maze-like area aside, had a blast with the original and can’t wait for this to release. Sadly, releasing in a window with many other big games: Nioh 3 and Dragon Quest 7. Bad time to by my wallet.

Really stretching the word demo here aren't they. This is only for people who know already they will be buying the game, fairly useless for those of us on the fence though.

Guess I will still be waiting on reviews for this one, can we expect a review from push for this game?

Works for me. Won't be playing this at launch since I've got too much on my plate, but I will definitely pick it up eventually so I might as well make my character ahead of time.

I love when they do this, once I've got the full game I just want to jump into the actual game, but my character has to be right if I'm gonna be staring at them for potentially tens of hours.

@Orochilocka I actually liked that maze-like area... maybe I should see a shrink...

The level design was the weakest part of the first game overall though, so I hope they step up their game in this area.

I spend a lot of time with character creators in games that have them. It’s part of the fun for me. I know a lot of people want to just jump into the action and will choose a pre-made random character, but I like to feel connected to my creation.

That said, I didn’t get along with the first game very well. Outside of the character creator, which was pretty good, I quickly became frustrated with the mechanics, the level design, and the unusual storyline. I am a big fan of FromSoft’s Souls games, but the first CV did not feel intuitive to me. I doubt I’ll try this sequel anytime soon

@Perturbator absolutely! Enjoyed the build crafting too, looks like there’s more flexibility this time around. And if the level design is up there, could be a real 2026 treat!

I'll get this game for sure. Previous Nioh games taught me to wait for all the DLC to come out before playing since the most interesting weapons are there.

That’s awesome, I always end up wasting my first night with a big new game working on my character. 😅
