All the way back when Zenless Zone Zero first released, HoYoverse teased idol group Angels of Delusion. And now, some 18 or so months later, they’re here. The next update, Encore for an Old Dream, will launch from 6th February.
The group, who’ve appeared in recent events, will feature as part of a new lower-stakes story, which serves as an interlude following the recent conclusion of Season 2.
It all ties in to the impending Gilded Carrot Day festivities, which are linked to the Lunar New Year in the real world. Phaethon will find themselves embroiled in a commission alongside returning favourite Jane Doe, meanwhile the Angels of Delusion will be preparing for their debut concert.

While the group is a three-piece, Sunna and Aria will be the first two S-Rank agents available to pull for. The former is a support unit who excels at accentuating attacks, while the latter can deliver high burst damage on adversaries afflicted with Anomaly build-up.
The pair will flank both halves of the update, alongside returning S-Ranks Yixuan and Yuzuha respectively. You’re going to need a serious number of Polychromes to pull for them both, then.
But here’s the good news: the ever-generous dev team has launched an event in-game allowing you to earn a free Inter-Knot Membership, which will net you up to 3,300 Polychromes if you login every day. Furthermore, this will stack with any other monthly passes you already own.
Other in-game events – and opportunities to earn more currency – include a band management mode with tons of different rhythm minigames, where you’ll oversee the Angels of Delusion’s rise to stardom.
And the Fall Guys-inspired Grand Marcel Adventure will also return, with new maps and minigames.
So, there’s a lot going on here, but you’re going to need a lot of Polychromes and a lot of luck to complete your Angels of Delusion squad. If you want their signature W-Engines as well, you’re looking at a potential outlay of up to 86,400 Polychromes for all three members – and that’s if you win every 50/50.
The thing is, while you will be able to pair them with other characters, we just know the Angels of Delusion are going to perform best as a trio. And so, if you commit to Sunna and Aria in this update, you’re almost certainly going to need third member Nangong Yu in v2.7 as well.
