Capcom mentioned it was eager to bring Mega Man out of retirement, and here’s your first look at the Blue Bomber’s next game.
It’s called Mega Man: Dual Override, and it’s launching on PS5 and PS4 in 2027. Sony’s last-gen console will still be kicking in a couple of years, it seems.
Here’s the blurb:
“Mega Man returns in 2027 with a brand-new entry in the classic action platforming series. Override challenges and blast down legions of robots while springboarding across a new array of futuristic frontiers!”

Obviously, this is still very early, but the side-scrolling perspective and traditional gameplay should please long-time franchise fans. You can check out the game’s official website through here.

Funny enough, me and some buddies at work earlier today were joking saying maybe we’ll get a new Mega Man game and lo and behold lol
Welcome back blue bomber.
PS4 in 2027 is kinda crazy though. Maybe they were making a Switch version and thought, why not?
Switch and PS4 versions should both be canceled next summer. It's time. Well maybe not for Switch, it will still be getting games for another 5 years, but how many games get triple released new - PS4, PS5, PS6? I mean probably Just Dance on Wii, Wii U and Switch, but besides that.😂
PS4 still? Not mad at that, helps out people who just don’t want to get a PS5 at least. Good that Mega Man is back. Now we wait for Ace Attorney.
A PS4 release in 2027 is just absolutely bonkers.
Welcome back Blue Bomber and it's about time! 😍
I was like, Capcom would be stupid if they didn't use the hype from Secret Level episode to announce a new Mega Man game. Fortunately they did.
But i'm curious why they didn't title it as Mega Man 12. The art style looks very similar and it feels like it took place in the original timeline + after MM 11.
@rjejr Why the PS4 version should be cancelled???
@rjejr It's side scrolling Mega Man, there's no need to cancel a PS4 version as long as Sony still allow publishing on the system.
Seems like a very iterative sequel which feels underwhelming given the length of time between 11.
Uh, the classic Megaman again? We need X.
@Orpheus79V @PuppetMaster I'm sure the PS4 can run it, heck the PS3 could probably run it, and they could make a PS2 version in SD at really low sprite resolution, but they probably won't. At some point, after a console is a certain age, companies just stop making games for them, and in 2027 PS4 will be past that age.
As a reminder PS4 launched in 2013. Who's going around saying "Let's make a game for a 14 year old console in 2027"? Historically 14 yo consoles don't get new games. Not b/c they can't run them, just b/c they stop making games for them. 🤷♂️
@rjejr Next year, Sega Genesis will get a new game with Earthion and that console is far older than PS4. So this "PS4 is 14 years old that means they should just stop making games for it" is not a good reason of why Capcom should cancelled the PS4 version.
I mean, PS4 sold more than 117 million units and i don't see any problem if Capcom wants to release their games for people who's still playing and buying games on PS4
Beside, cancelling PS4 version will not magically make the release date move on from 2027 to 2026 or make PS5 version looks prettier.
Looks AMAZING!! Day one for sure
It does look good, and I of course will be buying it without much question, but I am unreasonably upset that it's not called Mega Man 12.
Really cool to see Mega Man make a return, wasn't on my bingo card for reveals.
Looks too basic, like for babies
