Persona 5 Series Sales

Persona 5 as a series — that includes the original game, its expanded re-release Persona 5 Royal, and its multiple spinoffs — has now surpassed 13 million sales.

This is according to SEGA's latest business report, which highlights the total in a Persona-specific section.

Previously, the publisher had pointed out that the Persona 5 series had reached 10 million sales in 2023 — so it's managed to shift an additional 3 million games over the last couple of years.

Needless to say, Persona 5 — which basically stands as its own property within Persona at this point — is developer Atlus' biggest ever commercial success, and by some distance. No wonder it's still being milked!

The report doesn't provide any deeper insight into the 13 million total, but previous reports do allow us to estimate how each title has sold.

For instance, just earlier this year, it was announced that Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal had moved just under 10.5 million units between them.

This means that the spinoffs — Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight, Persona 5 Strikers, and Persona 5 Tactica — have sold roughly 2.5 million copies combined.

On top of that, Persona 5 Strikers hit 2 million sales back in 2023, so Dancing, and the much more recent Tactica, certainly didn't set the world on fire.

Still, it's this kind of commercial momentum that makes us wonder whether SEGA and Atlus will ever be truly done with Persona 5.

For what it's worth, there are currently no announced Persona 5-related projects in the oven, outside of ongoing mobile title Persona 5: The Phantom X — but that one's not developed in-house at Atlus.

What do you think of Persona 5's unmatched success? Would you dare to dream of another Persona 5 project, or is it definitely time to move on? Keep waiting for Persona 6 in the comments section below.
