Cairn, the mountain-climbing game from the makers of Furi and Haven, has been delayed out of 2025.
Developer The Game Bakers have announced the game will be released sometime in Q1 of 2026, with no firm date in place.
In a social media post, the team says the delay is to "ensure that [Cairn] launches at its best" and this will require "a little more time". The extra time will go into "optimisation, debug, and polish".
We've been running a lot of playtests, and you've let us know that we have something truly special with Cairn. However, we also see the improvements we can still make. After five years of work, so close to our goal, it makes no sense to rush.
The game was previously set for release in early November.
While the full game has been pushed back, the playable demo will soon receive an update. On 13th October, the demo's update will bring player ghosts to the mountain, allowing you to see the paths taken by other people:
We've had our eye on Cairn for a while, especially as big fans of the studio's previous titles. A few more months should be worth it for a polished experience.

I really liked the demo of this, but it did need some polish, so I can understand the delay.
Was like a mix of Jusant meets The Climb VR.
@FinneasGH same, a bit more polish could make it really shine.
Really looking forward to this one. Demo was a lot of fun and definitely left me wanting more. My backlog is gross right now so a delay is fine by me.
Genuinely think this could be a sleeper hit with some more polish, the demo was great.
I cairn o mohr.
And also a Playstation console exclusive.
I’m just going to mention this from now on for titles that aren’t generally known to be exclusive, so people don’t have to constantly whine about the PS not having any games
Thank god, the frame rate was so bad I felt ill, had to give up. Maybe it will be better in the updated demo...
Shame but understandable. As the first couple of comments mentioned, the framerate was choppy so hopefully it'll get a lot more polished.
Cairn is a pinned down purchase on release for me. They've got something special with that climbing system. (Also Haven was top notch)
Both this and the Terminator 2D game are ones I'm really looking forward to, and both have been delayed on the same day. 😭
To be fair, there was some pretty bad performance issues in the demo, so I'd rather they take some extra time to sort those out.
@KayUK I had the exact same problem. Had a blast with the first climb, but couldn't make it past that, the frame rate was disorienting. I'm excited they're taking more time to iron things out, as the base game play was a lot of fun
Played the demo, had fun. Game clearly has potential, but performance was bad. Here's hoping that they'll fix this issue
Really liked the demo. Much better than Jusant, hopefully we get a disc too!
Looking forward to this one!
Looking forward to it. Will be my next zen game
