Despite Legal Dispute with Nintendo, Palworld Plans Full PS5 Release in 2026 1

Pocketpair is aiming to officially release its hit open world survival game Palworld in 2026. The title is currently available in Early Access on the PS5, but is hoping to achieve its full v1.0 milestone next year.

In a developer update, communications director and publishing manager Bucky hinted that the remainder of 2025 may be a little slower than usual for the game, while it works on repairing the release’s “quirks and jank”.

He said:

“We think taking the time now to fix those problems will ultimately lead to a better game. We just want to be transparent about where we’re headed and the development of Palworld going forward. Development of Palworld is not slowing down or scaling back, quite the opposite.”

Bucky added that v1.0 will add a “massive amount” of content, and that it plans to share a “sneak peek in the very near future”. He did also tease that the developer has “several surprises” in store for later this year as well.

Of course, the game is still very much caught up in a Nintendo court case, and earlier this year made some “disappointing” gameplay changes in order to appease the platform holder’s legal team.

This included the removal of the ability to summon Pals using Pal Spheres and using Pals as gliders.

In the last week, Nintendo was granted a patent for the action of summoning a creature in-game and using them in battle.

If enforced, this could have a profound impact on many other games, including the upcoming Digimon Story Time Stranger and even potentially the likes of Persona.
