Genshin Impact’s summer update is right around the corner, but all roads lead to new region Nod-Krai, and a year-long storyline named the Song of the Welkin Moon.
Out of nowhere, developer HoYoverse has dropped an epic five minute trailer introducing the cast we’ll encounter in the new location, as part of the Archon Quest. Some of these faces have been highly anticipated, like Alice and Varka.
Alice was actually first mentioned all the way back in 2020 as Klee’s kooky mother and the author of the Teyvat Travel Guide. We also get a glimpse of Varka, who’s been referenced multiple times over the years as well.
Obviously in classic HoYoverse fashion, the trailer is cryptic and riddled with proper nouns, so unless you’re absolutely obsessed with the lore, you probably won’t really have a clue what’s going on.

We’re still a little over six weeks away from the launch of Genshin Impact’s next big milestone update, but the upcoming v5.8 will plant the seeds of the story, and that’s due out next week, on 30th July.
