SpongeBob fans, rejoice — one of the character's games has suddenly arrived on PS5 and PS4.
A port of SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off is now available for Sony's consoles, releasing unceremoniously on 2nd July 2025.
So, what is this? Well, here's the extremely brief launch trailer for the Nintendo Switch version:
Essentially, SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off looks like a Bikini Bottom spin on Cook, Serve, Delicious. You prepare a variety of food items — including Krabby Patties of course — as the orders come flying in.

As you progress through the game, you'll visit different locations from the show, unlock new recipes, decorate venues, acquire new outfits, and upgrade equipment. As the official blurb puts it:
Create your own Bikini Bottom kitchen, decorate and customize your restaurant, and get ready to serve up delicious food to your guests! In this fast-food cooking game, put your time management skills to the test and experience the crazy cooking action of the SpongeBob universe. Fire up the grill and get ready to cook!
Interestingly, this is a redesigned rendition of what was once a mobile game. The mobile version was free-to-play and laced with microtransactions, but all of that has been scrubbed from the console version, with all content unlockable through progression.
While no microtransactions makes this a more palatable proposition, the trade-off is it isn't free; the PlayStation versions will set you back $14.99/£11.99.
Reviews for the Switch version are few and far between, and very mixed, so maybe proceed with caution. From where we're sitting, it looks okay for what it is; if you like Cook, Serve, Delicious or Diner Dash-esque games, this is potentially worth a pop.
What do you make of SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off? Don't forget the pickles in the comments section below.

Looks like a flash game (not in graphics I mean in structure) and not in a good way, even as a fan of certain flash games and some of their great design ideas, this seems like they were out of ideas and slapped the IP onto it, but lets hope they actually fit the universe's elements well to this.
It could be fitting, sure with how you maintain the restaurant or other aspects, fair mix of characters, whatever demands to meet, etc.
I don't know the IP that well only bits and pieces I don't watch it.
But even still, I've seen other games that do spin offs better then this utilising their IP in many ways and still see some appeal to them. Senran Kagura came to mind, the ways they mixed rhythm cooking or pinball spinoffs, for example and still had the lore/fan service mix in besides being primarily combat/ninjas.
So to me unless they really mix the restaurant aspects of the show, whether Krabby Patties, or more original/other stuff to use the characters/situations whatever empire or other tycoon/city building, exploration for ingredients/minigames maybe, or whatever structure this could have, sure, I see potential, no doubt.
Otherwise I am just see this as slapping the IP onto some other shovelware game (like Forza Street did, or just a straight up use of the IP with a shovelware project) rather then a good use of the universe, characters and gameplay ideas to match it.
This genuinely looks like a game you'd find on Addicting Games. Lol
This is shovelware.
Wait, this game also on PS5 after Switch version ?! 😃
I want to get the PS5 version in physical release.
@Sambuc
Some games are shovelware by certain people, they are hidden gems for other people.
@Anti-Matter
I like a lot of SpongeBob games, such as the recent 3D platformers, but this game just looks like a cash grab to me.
