Fortnite, the ever-evolving free-to-play title, today adds a new mode to its LEGO Fortnite branch.
Expeditions is its name, and it differs from the other LEGO experiences by focusing on PvE co-op combat.
Players will team up and take control of minifigures in one of three classes — Shadow Caller, Rift Ripper, and The Hunter. Each one plays differently of course, and alongside a choice of weapons, they give you plenty of ways to play Expeditions.
The mode is structured with Missions, where up to four players battle various enemies in waves across a trio of maps, with more coming later down the line.
Completing Missions earns you XP and goes towards Team Projects — buffs and upgrades that impact all players. Not just you and your squad mates; all players. It puts us in mind of Helldivers 2 and its cumulative global objectives.
It seems that Expeditions will be somewhat linked with Fortnite's Battle Royale mode, sharing season theming (Super being the current one) and guest characters like Superman making an appearance.
It's out today and accessible in Discover or directly from other LEGO modes Odyssey or Brick Life.

Lego games - enough already !
@hypnotoad They cannot appeal to you, but I'm sure there are a ton of people that will enjoy it. I still have to work on Clair Obscur, but glad they keep expanding on this mode in Fortnite.
I wish I had more time to play Fortnite. This looks fun, though!
I love lego games but fortnite no thanks
So does this work like horde mode that they only seem to ever do for Halloween or is it more team based vs other players? I don't like playing on teams where we have to team up and people expect communication but if it's like horde mode and I can just jump in and shoot things it might actually be fun in short bursts.
I dud read the article but have never played Helldivers so it was mostly lost on me.🤷♂️
@Marathon5150 Horses for courses.
Innit blud...
I'm a main Lego Odyssey player in Fortnite, but I admit the Expeditions mode is actually fun and the nice thing is that it ties to Odyssey, bringing stuff into it and can travel back and forth conveniently. The powers are fun to use. It's free forever, so if you haven't got a chance to play it yet, you should try it!
Minecraft costs $30 to buy, Realms on Minecraft requires $8 to buy, and Minecraft requires PlayStation or Xbox subscription to play online. Lego Odyssey is free in all aspects.
