Very longstanding rumours of a Final Fantasy Tactics revival have finally come to fruition. Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is real, and it's coming to PS5 later this year, on the 30th September.
To be clear, this isn't a full remake — as some previous whispers had suggested. It's a re-release that features an "enhanced" version of the PS1 classic, complete with "fully voiced dialogue, an optimized and updated UI, graphical improvements, and a number of other quality of life features".

But, if you want to original experience, you can opt for "classic" mode, which keeps the visuals all pixelated and that. It's always nice to have options.
The translation is taken from the PSP's War of the Lions, by the way, and there'll apparently be additional features like autosave.

I remember playing this all day and night on my weekends after school. This looks really good and I’m glad they kept the original sprite style and not the weird 3d models they’ve been using for some games.

Oh I've been waiting for this. Maybe a hot take but I think FFT was not only the best Final Fantasy spinoff but possibly the best FF game full stop.
Im in. I love FFT, but there's no perfect version of the game out there.

At the beggining i got excited. It looked like it could be FFT2 in that cinematic. It's certainly doable now.
I am pleased with the remaster but even for a remaster, it doesn't look like an incredible glow up. I will still get it, but i hope there's more coming.
Also... creative unit 3. Peculiar... hope there's something bigger in store. I know yoshiP is a fan of FFT. He clearly made this happen.
Favorite game of all time. I never buy games day one - this will be an exception.

I went down some rabbit holes trying to get final fantasy tactics running the best way possible, and I'm just glad this gonna be out soon, cuz even on the PSTV, the PSP remake is pretty hard to read and the controls are a bit garbo

Really happy to see this announced. I bought the GBA port many years ago and it left a huge impression but ended up losing the cart before getting too far in to it so I'm glad I'll finally be able to give it the time it deserves.
Now I just need to get my arse into gear and finish off Tactics Ogre before it hits.

FF Tactics A2 is one of my favourite games of all time so hopefully it can get a rerelease too some day.
I played the War of The Lions version to no end in my PSP. My Ramza had all classes maxed, I cleared all stages. A very fondly memory.
