Tekken 8 has been having a bit of a rough ride of late, with Bandai Namco forced to release an “emergency” patch for the fighter after its Season 2 update basically ruined the outing.

All eyes were on EVO Japan, then, for some kind of roadmap that reinvigorated interest in the 3D fighter. Unfortunately, looking at the online reactions, the crowd has gone mild at best.

Muay Thai brawler Fahkumram, first introduced as DLC in Tekken 7, will be the game’s big summer addition – a character who doesn’t have a particularly strong following.

“I’m inclined to believe they’re trying to kill it so they can stop paying for development,” one fan wrote of the reveal.

He’ll be preceded by a balance update on 13th May, as well as a Ghost Showdown mode in the Tekken Lounge.

Then on 3rd June, you can “look forward to” a Karate Kid crossover, which will see the new movie promoted in the game. Some classic costumes will also make the cut.

Perhaps the coolest thing on the docket is the PAC-MAN collaboration, which will see a stage inspired by Bandai Namco’s iconic arcade hit introduced as part of the Season Pass, and various other PAC-MAN cosmetics, like hit effects and more.

But given how cynical this game’s community feels right now, it’s going to take some epic updates in the future to change the overall mood. Reading the responses to these announcements, we feel like apathy is taking place of anger – which is probably the worst position a game can find itself in.
