PS5 Shmup Sonic Wings Reunion Gets Some Sick Physical Bundles

Sonic Wings Reunion launches this week in Japan, but you won’t have to wait too long in the west, as the shmup revival’s been tagged with a 7th October launch date.

And if you’re hoping to mark the occasion with more than a mere digital download, Red Art Games has announced a bunch of PS5 physical editions for those who want to own the latest instalment in the Aero Fighters franchise on Blu-ray.

In addition to a €39.99 Standard Edition, there’s also a €39.99 (~$45) Deluxe Edition, which is limited to 500 copies. This includes the following bonus items, while stocks last:

• A copy of the game
• An exclusive sleeve featuring alternate cover art
• A reversible cover featuring the Aero Fighters Reunion logo
• A Booster Pack with cards for all of the game’s characters

Then there’s also a €69.99 (~$79) Collector’s Edition, which includes the following:

• A copy of the game
• A reversible cover featuring the Aero Fighters Reunion logo
• The game’s Original Soundtrack CD
• A double-sided poster
• A Mao Mao acrylic stand
• An exclusive Aero Edition box
• A Booster Pack with cards for all of the game’s characters

Remember, it’s been decades since the last entry in this series, Sonic Wings Special, released on the PS1. The new game has actually been worked on by original character artist Fumihiko Nantoka and sound designer Soshi Hosoi, so it’s the real deal for sure.
