Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, the superhero action game featuring Black Panther and Captain America, has been an elusive game since its initial reveal, but thanks to a loose-lipped voice actor, it seems we now know when it's due out.
In an interview with The Direct, voice actor Khary Payton — who plays Black Panther in the game — says the game is "still planning on 2025" for launch, narrowing that down to "a Christmas situation".
First revealed in 2022 without a title, the game got its first proper unveiling at last year's GDC.

As the name suggests, the game has a historic setting, taking place in occupied Paris. It's a single player action adventure that'll let you play as beloved heroes Black Panther and Captain America, as well as two other agents looking to take down the evil Hydra organisation.
A 2025 release year has been shown for this game before, but now we know to expect it in the last few months of the year, if Payton's comments are correct.

I'm hoping that this is closer in quality to the first three Captain America films and the Black Panther films, rather than the newest Captain America film.
Spoilers to the Captain America trailer and also major aspects of the plot of the film. I just need to make fun of it.
"You're not Steve Rogers"
"You're right...I'm not..." 🔥🔥🔥
Cinema.
@HotGoomba Yes! This dialogue style has to go away and die soon. It's infected gaming and all media and no one has full conversations any more. They just make very short statements at each other's faces that every so often relate to what was said previously.
See Dragon Age preview footage for reference.
Gameplay, can we have it if it releases this year?
They're likely waiting on confirmation for the GTA6 release date before deciding to release this year or hold it back until next year.
@Ravix I think that all good writers stopped getting work at big companies because no talented artist wants to make sanitized products.
@Ravix @hotgoomba Hopefully they focus less on quips and skybeams and more on an actually good and compelling storyline!
@HotGoomba I thought the new cap was pretty good. Felt like a solid phase 2 movie. What I can't stand are the cheap laughs that became commonplace since James Gunn's and Taika's introduction undermining every character moment for giggles. Going meta just made things even worse.
This game looks solid and Amy Henning knows what she's doing.
@tameshiyaku I don't think the blame for this falls on Gunn and Taika. For one, their writing is actually pretty funny (although Gunn is way more consistent than Taika.) The real person to blame us Joss Weeden, because the first two Avengers films were what really started this trend. (Also, blaming Joss Weeden is more fun, cause he's a massive piece of garbage.)
Hopefully once this is out Amy can team up with Saber to continue Legacy Of Kain
@Bigmanfan The real person to blame is Todd Macfarlane. Comic books, whatever you may think about them, used to have stories and character development. Then Todd came along and said “Who needs sentences?” and started writing words. Web lines. Advantageous. Humidity. Oppressive. Then he formed Image comics and basically got rid of words all together and comics were just full page art. Some of that art was superb. I liked some of those artists a lot. But writing went bye-bye.
I know that’s comics and not movies but those are comic movies.
Kind of like Squenix and it’s good JRPG on PS1 replaced by The Bouncer on PS2.😩
I absolutely hate the name of this game. Hope they change it
@tameshiyaku Funny you say that, because I think James Gunn's style is the best of all the MCU subseries. Although most films trying to replicate it, with exceptions, fail. Taika's Thor Ragnarok was a good example of replicating the humor. Love and Thunder, not so much.
I felt like the new Captain America was pretty boring outside of the action and some of the drama. I'm glad you liked it, but I unfortunately found it bland.
Still better than Quantumania though.
I can't wait to see some actual gameplay for this.
Been waiting a while to see what Amy can do with a new studio.
@HotGoomba @Bigmanfan true, Weedon is the worst in every conceivable way. Taika is great when he's just doing his own thing or doing dramedies. Love and thunder however was the worst thing MCU ever, even beneath quantumania and the marvels, which is a feat.
Gunn isn't bad but he thinks he can actually evoke emotion of what's happening on-screen with some sappy song rather than deserved moments, since all he does is poke jokes at every corner until then. He hasn't done much good for DC yet, but we'll see if he learned some lessons on sincerity with the new superman movie.
@tameshiyaku I genuinely can't get behind this Gunn slander man. If the Guardians movies don't hit you in the feels, I really don't know what to tell you. Genuinely the best written films in the MCU In my opinion, and I wouldn't even say it's close.
@HotGoomba The game is written and likely directed by the legacy of kain and first 3 uncharted writer, Amy Hennig.
It will certainly be good.
My worry is if people will care. This game went radio silent for a long time and still is. The studio is working on a star wars game too. They are a studio built to make story driven games.
I do hope this game does well. But i am worried.
My dream is for the studio to do well and be hired by embracer to make a new legacy of kain.
