Hyped since last year, The Blood of Dawnwalker finally got its big reveal today. Well, technically.
What we actually got was a 45-minute livestream, most of which consisted of various development staff telling us how great the game is going to be, without actually showing it.
In the end, we got a tiny glimpse of gameplay footage, alongside a four-minute CG trailer that sets the tone.
For those out of the loop, this is the first game in a new series from developer Rebel Wolves — a studio spearheaded by ex-CD Projekt Red developers. It's a dark fantasy RPG, primarily about vampires.

You play as a young man named Coen, who has just thirty days and thirty nights to save his family from the big bad. It sounds as though this time limit will be a key part of the game's structure, and it'll often force you to make tough decisions in order to progress.
Rebel Wolves says we'll see a full gameplay reveal at some point this summer. We assume Geoff Keighley's got dibs on that one.
What do you make of Dawnwalker? Do devs need to stop doing these presentations if they don't actually have any meaningful gameplay to share? Keep your blade sheathed for now in the comments section below.

The year is 2025 and devs are still doing livestreams where they just talk about how amazing their game is without actually showing it.
Dawnwalker sounds great but this was 45 minutes of hot air. They got eyes on it, I suppose, which from their perspective will be all that matters.
45 minute livestream of b.s talk. If you've nothing solid to show, it's better you say nothing and wait until you've produced something outstanding to talk about.
I'll call D.O.A on this project.
The cinematic looks fantastic, but there is so little known about the game yet.
It's a cool cinematic, but it apes The Witcher 3's tone, art direction, and music so much that it's almost comical.
I mean, it's cool but give us a deep dive into the game.
Can't wait to see more of this game
If you had said this was the witcher 4 I'd believe you, that's how much inspiration it's taking.
The cinematic sets the tone and gets some eyes on a game a lot of people wouldn't have had a clue about, so it's done the job it set out to. No-one was expecting to see everything the game will have to offer right away, so let's see what comes in the gameplay reveal in the summer.
@RBMango (#4) I actually laughed out a little when the second song came on. It could have been from W3 and you wouldn't even notice, down to the vocal parts. Maybe they should have hired someone else?
Okay.... cinematic looks perfect. That is all I can say, because it is all I know about it. If it is some kind of vampire hunter RPG then give it to me.
Proof that no matter how much pockets of the internet complains, people will never get tired of open world games.
Whoa this looks like it has serious promise. Need to see more gameplay though.
@PerpetualBoredom I almost laughed too. It sounds similar to the woman singing after finishing a mission in Witcher 3.
Obviously too early to tell, but I don’t mind the first look at a game just being a cinematic setting the tone, whether CGI or in engine. This looked promising to me.
Cool…? Right? I mean…
Looks really promising! Absolutely fantastic story trailer.
With this quote from the press release I immediately lost all interest: "Time is a resource and with each quest progressing its passage, it is impossible to complete all stories and arcs before the dreadful deadline".
It looks very Witchery but thats to be expected from the same director that did Witcher 3, so its not a bad thing imo. Hopefully this delivers as we are long overdue a good Vampire themed game. I know VTMB 2 is out soon but I fully expect that to fail given how long it was in development hell for.
I’ll definitely support these ex-Witcher developers. As its people not a name of a studio that make the games many people like. And the Witcher 3 is still in my top 5 list of games. I just hope they are successful and get a product to the market as it’s not easy starting a new studio.
Looks good, the story is interesting, and I'm sure the gameplay will be better than witcher 3 😃
