I wonder if Infinity Nikki would have gotten any awards if Iit had released sooner

I feel like Silent Hill 2 should've won Best Audio Design imo. It was so good but congrats to the other winners.

As a person who has yet to play Astro Bot, did it really deserve GOTY over the others? I haven't played an Astro game since the PS4 early days when they had the bots to explore the abilities of the DS4.

Helldivers 2 I am glad took home their awards. The game beat out even Fortnite for best ongoing game and I didn't expect that to happen.

Congratulations Team Asobi! Well well deserved.. and now I'm 95% sure we'll get a sequel and/or some other magic from them. Creative geniuses.

Astro bot really did deserve it, such a great game

@SillyBoyJudas Astro Bot is magnificent. Asobi even top their idols (Nintendo) in my opinion.. and I don't say that lightly. 100% deserved.

I surprisingly felt myself tearing up when Astro bot won the GOTY.
I did not realise i cared so much.
This is a great message to send to this awful AAA industry so focused with live services, microtransactions and generic trash when a team with 65 developers created such an amazing game without spending all the money in the world. A single player game, a platformer. It's a snipet of games as art that has been lost nowadays.

Also, i think Sven's speech before that set the mood.

AH HELL YES!! It looks like Astro Bot, Metaphor, Balatro, and Helldivers 2 basically swept the awards, and rightly so. For once, the game awards got it right this year.

Best game that wasn't mentioned: FFIX Remake.

I’m actually really satisfied with these results. Looks about as good as I could’ve hoped for. Congrats to Astro Bot and the rest of the winners!

Good to see Rebirth, Astro, Helldivers, Wukong & Balatro all won awards. Unlucky Stellar Blade. It was a great game. Glad it got recognized else where though. Astro for the win!

I’m glad Balatro and Neva got awards. Players Choice was disappointing but could’ve been worse, could have been a gatcha game

If I knew it will be longer than Mahabharata I would go to sleep and see results in the morning.

Astro Bot is the deserved winner, happy to see this. Also happy to see Metaphor getting recognition.

I only recently played Astro Bot and I immediately got the hype, it was just pure gaming fun and celebration. Metaphor is my personal favourite of the year, so happy to see that get a few gongs, and Balatro is so addictive and succinct it had to be recognised as well.

People were ridiculous thinking Erdtree will win GOTY. I was thinking it would win some other categories but I see the backlash was so much they were scared to give it anything. Nice to see Metaphor winning some though.

This was the year Japanese and Asian made games stood out as the best. Astrobot, Final Fantasy 7, Metaphor Refantazio, Black Myth Wukong.

Western developers could learn to put a bit of fun and escapism back into their games.

OH YEAAAAH. Go ASTRO. I hope now there is some competition in the are too. It kind of does good for the whole gaming industry.

@SillyBoyJudas Personally I think it's well worth it, but Astro's Playroom was my first PS5 game and I'd played Rescue Mission a few years back, AstroBot is the better of the 3 though as it feels more like a game than a tech demo.
Seeing as it's PS5 only you can always give Playroom a go first as it ain't gonna cost you owt, plus you can get ahead on a couple of characters for AstroBot if you get into it. I'll admit I have a degree of bias as I'm old enough to have the nostalgia strings tugged mind.

Probably not a popular opinion, but I thought the score for Rebirth was pretty meh, Stellar Blade's score and music was sublime though, plus ShiftUp deserved something for putting out a game that worked straight outta the box that has had a not insignificant amount of meaningful updates. Ah well, there's always SB2....

Great to see that Astro Bot actually won.
Hope Sony will deliver more fun stuff like this, in the coming years.

It would be interesting to see which one out of global citizen, best mobile game, best esports thing, and games for impact people care the least about. It’s a pretty close thing personally.

How the hell does Fallout beat Arcane? The artistry in Arcane is off the damn charts. Seeing Fallout live was nice but it really wasn't anything that new.

Bummer to see Stellar Blade completely shut out of any award. The game might not have been innovative but it was a great game none the less. Also would have liked to have seen Silent Hill 2 win for audio design but Hellblade 2 is a solid choice instead.

@Leonhart Silent Hill is good… But Hellblade 2 is next level, but that cause the selling point of Hellblade 2 is it audio design. You had people questioning their audio setup when it came time to play Hellblade 2

"best support - BG3" what the? It took them a year to add cutscenes that should have been in the game at release, category should have gone to the likes of Warframe or ESO.

Best mobile game is obviously Nikke.
No sign of Yakuza 8 or DD2 and as predicted stellar blade nowhere to be seen, game awards is just pure chicanery i mean even fifa won something!? Griftdivers and some kids game about a character from the playroom winning everything, amazin.

I haven't played any of these games that won. But happy metaphor got some awards. I did vote for it, but I also voted for like a Dragon. And monster hunter for most anticipated. Didn't vote for no one else and skipped sections that didn't have these games. And also skipped players and actors.

I liked the awards, but it's a shame that stellar blade didn't get anything. It's my favourite game ever. Also, I would've prefered more prices to FFVIIR instead of Metafor, but I haven't played it yet yo be honest.

Best sound design and best music at Gameawards 2025 just must go to Path Of Exile 2. I'm calling it now. It's just excellent.

I am a little confused... how did AstroBot win Best Action/Adventure game - but BMW win Best Action game. Does that mean AstroBot is an Adventure game (whatever that means)? I don't really understand the distinction between these categories.

So glad Astro Bot won 4 including the big one as it's the most fun I've had in a video game in years.

It's just a game that makes you happy playing it and actually helped me during a difficult year

If you told me 10 years ago that Bioware is gonna release a major RPG and not only not get GOTY, but also not win anything, i probably wouldnt believe you.

How times have changed. Very glad its AstroBot tho, as i believe it was a hair better than Wukong

For me Metaphor should have won Goty, but it's nice to see Astro Bot winning it, since I believe the industry needs it.
