Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 PS5 PS4 PlayStation

Activision has officially put a date on Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, showing off the spy action thriller and announcing it will launch on the 25th October on PS5 and PS4. With store pages now live, it didn't take eagle-eyed viewers long to spot some new additions, such as this year's edition requiring an always-online internet connection to play multiplayer, the campaign, and Zombies.

On Twitter, the account Does it Play? has a vested interest in such things and read the fine print on the recently published Editions support page for the game. Under the "Is an internet connection required to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 6?" section of the page, it says:

"To deliver the highest-quality visuals while reducing the game’s overall storage space on your hard drive, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will use texture streaming across all game modes. You’ll need a continuous Internet connection to play any game mode, including Campaign. If you’re on a console, campaign can be played without a premium subscription service such as Game Pass Core or PlayStation Plus."

Is this a W or an L? Is requiring an Internet connection for the single player campaign a cause for concern, or is it just the cost of doing business today? Pour one out for game preservation in the comments section below.
