Today's the day Activision lifts the lid on Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, but since PS Store pre-orders have gone live before the show even takes place, some key details have already been made public. Most importantly, the game releases for PS5 and PS4 this October. The PS Store lists a date of 17th October 2024, but that could be related to the campaign being offered one week earlier, like past entries have done. It's believed the full game launch takes place on the 25th.

Available for pre-order is a Cross-Gen Bundle for £69.99 / $69.99 and the Vault Edition at £99.99 / $99.99, which will bundle in digital bonuses like a GobbleGum Pack and a Mastercraft Collection. Both versions come with early access to an open beta.

The PS Store description reads: "Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops."

As for online multiplayer, there'll be 16 new maps at launch, with 12 for the usual 6v6 match types and then four Strike maps. The Zombies mode will also be returning to a round-based structure, and there will be two maps available on day one. "Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies." Once the deep dive into Black Ops 6 is released in the coming hours, we'll embed it into this article.
