Star Wars Jedi: Survivor PS5 PlayStation

Respawn's Star Wars Jedi series has found a welcome home with players, and protagonist Cal Kestis' journey of survival has been a compelling one. Actor Cameron Monaghan, who portrays Kestis in Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor, says he'd be up for portraying the character in live-action. Still, the circumstances "would have to be right”.

The question was posed to Monaghan, known for his TV roles in Shameless and Gotham, at a panel at FanExpo Vancouver 2024 (thanks, GameInformer), where he gave a surprisingly compelling answer. Most actors would jump at the chance to appear in a Star Wars film in any possible capacity, but for Monaghan to portray Kestis in live-action, he has some conditions that would need to be met:

"It would have to be right. By that, I mean it has to continue the story or the character in some way. I don't want him to just kind of show up to stand around and be there. I want him to mean something and for there to be significance for the character itself. So, it would have to make sense. But in the right context, then, yeah, absolutely."

On the game front, a third entry in the Star Wars Jedi trilogy is expected, but not for several years yet. Respawn reportedly has a first-person, bounty-hunting Mandalorian game in the works, which sounds exceedingly cool; perhaps Kestis could make a meaningful appearance there.

Could you see a Dominic Monaghan-led live-action Star Wars film? Would that be something you'd be interested in seeing? Let us know in the comments section below.
