The now-venerable Apex Legends is looking to change things up in a big way with Season 20: Breakout, an overhaul coming to the game to mark its fifth anniversary, arriving 13th February. 120 frames-per-second should shake things up for players on PS5, and the Body Shield system is going the way of the dodo, with Legend's instead now having an inherent Legend armour rating, which will increase as they level up.

It's a surprising change, and armour isn't the only thing being tweaked. As mentioned, Legends will be able to level up in each match by earning EVO, improving their armour tier and unlocking unique upgrade selections at levels two and three. EVO is earned by core actions like dealing damage, knocks, finishers, and actions like squad wipes and respawns will reward your entire squad with the precious material. EVO Harvesters will randomly spawn on every Battle Royale map, paying out huge amounts to squads able to secure them.

Ranked matchmaking is getting a significant rework, too, in the form of Ranked Reloaded. In a more transparent model, eliminations will prioritized over placement, and your hidden skill rating will have no influence over placements. 120FPS is coming to PS5, for players with 120hz TVs, in the form of a supercharged performance mode.
