Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was the big closer during Sony’s PS Showcase, and it looked both amazing and spectacular all at the same time! The one downside, sadly, was that the chunky gameplay reveal ended without a release date – again! Insomniac Games knows we’re feeling impatient, however, and it’s reassured fans that more information is coming soon.
“Watching your reactions today has been spectacular,” the studio wrote on social media. “We know you have tons of questions about Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and we're eager to share more soon, including news about the release date, pre-orders, and accessibility features.”
Considering this is modern Sony we’re talking about, confirmation could quite literally come at any time of the day on any day of the week, so this doesn’t give us a whole lot to go on. With the first extended gameplay footage now online, though, we hope this means the floodgates are finally open for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and we’ll be learning a lot more about the title with regularity right up until release.

Hoping there’s a limited edition of some sort. It looks amazing!
Wonder if their waiting on what other games are launching in the fall before announcing a release date

@AdamNovice More than likely this is the reason, they're gonna wait until after Xbox's June 11 showcase at least.
I doubt Sony's too worried about whatever Nintendo releases in Fall 2023 though.

Suggests they still have a fair bit of work to do on the game before they are confident on the release date...
...although don't forget this is also expected to be a peak game release. They will be keeping their cards close to their chests to avoid a competitor release date too.
I'm not convinced it is a 2023 game anymore. Sony are not ones to get out of the way of other games, especially with such a major title like spiderman.
If it’s good news, it would be smart of them to give us a trailer with a release date right after, or during, the Xbox showcase. You know, to try drown any potential positive Xbox headlines.
@Somebody they said fall. If it slips to next year, this will be seen as a terrible calendar year for Sony, and this being the highlight of the show, it will be seen for a long time as the worst Sony showcase in recent memory.
I am seriously hoping this game launches in fall, that basically means they got until Christmas to deliver.
@Tharsman I hope it makes 2023 too but it seems unlikely that they would take the L on their big showcase just to give the date shortly after. If they have other plans like a separate spiderman showcase why not say that? I can only guess that they do not have a date yet and if they can't nail down a firm date 4-5 months out I worry it might slip. The marketing window is closing fast for a fall date.
It could easily still make it but I'm much less confident than I was 2 days ago.
@Somebody I’m a bit the other way around. A few dsys ago I was certain it would arrive around March.
Now that they put Fall out there, they better be sure even if they need to launch December 20th.
