We're mid-way through December, if you can believe it, with Christmas just a couple of weeks away. It looks like God of War Ragnarok may be under a lot of trees this year, potentially right alongside the PS5 itself. No doubt buoyed by the ebb and flow of PS5 stock returning to retail, Sony's action game is back at number one.
It dethrones FIFA 23, which settles for second place after a couple of weeks at the top. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is also bumped down to third. Elsewhere, Sonic Frontiers is actually up one position, from ninth to eighth. The rest of the top 10 is made up of Switch-only titles, most of which are first-party.
The Callisto Protocol slips from sixth to 12th in its second week, the physical edition of Cuphead debuts in 18th, and Need for Speed Unbound continues to lag behind, moving to 19th.

Fully deserved, imo ragnarok is Sony best game that they’ve made. Also nice to see that cod or Fifa arnt top of the tree for once. Single player games rule!

@Slayer25c people who buy Nintendo consoles always end up getting Mario games, whereas wiith MS and Sony you may never buy Halo or God of War.
It's always amazing to see when a great game on a single platform outsells popular multiplatform games.
@Jacko11 pretty sure in the monthly playstation store charts for November God of war was top, so for the UK I doubt call of duty is infront by that much when you include boxed sales as well.

So happy to see God of War Ragnarok on top spot. I’m 28hrs in and having an absolute blast. Definitely my favourite game of 2022.
Considering the competition of FIFA, CoD and Pokémon that's pretty impressive.
Deep into the post game and getting closer to the Platinum, such a fantastic game.

Amazing to see GOW take the top spot, especially against the 3 big boys in 2nd, 3rd and 4th. I wasnt sold on it to begin with. It felt too familiar (and i completely hate snow levels in games) but once it opened out a bit i loved it and its the only game my non gaming wife has actually ever sat by my side throughout, even after the story whilst i was collecting for the plat. The writing is absolutely top tier as is everything else.My GOTY by far. I can see how people like Elden Ring for its exploration etc but give me a semi linear, story driven single player campaign with amazing character design any day of the week.
Only GoW PS5 packs available so.....duh.
But Minecraft on the Switch? Who is still buying that?
@sanderson72 Everyone is buying minecraft everywhere all the time. It's what people do.
Not surprised, it is a fantastic game and a must play. Perfect example of what a story driven single player games should be.
Top it with Sony giving both gameplay and graphics for the money. Other publishers still making excuses on why you get one or the other.

I played and finished the first game but I usually jump between games rather than play one until they are finished but after receiving God Of War Ragnarok for my birthday last month I have been booked and playing nothing else!49 hours in and still loving it.
@sanderson72 In the UK, you can also buy a PS5 with call of duty or horizon forbidden west. The forced bundles shouldn’t determine the relative sale position of call of duty and God of war.
@Slayer25c seriously…. Truly unbelievable. I would think that everyone who wanted the game would have it by now. It’s almost nine years old for some of us….
Surprising that one of the best games ever made is No1. in the sales 🤔
