Summer Game Fest 2023 PS5 1

The sunny video game shindig Summer Game Fest 2023 will beat the revamped E3 2023 to the punch, as host Geoff Keighley preps an 8th June video game fiesta – complete with a live audience at the YouTube Theatre in Los Angeles and, yes, World Premieres™. The new E3 2023 will run 13th June to 16th June at its old home of the LA Convention Centre, so it should make for an action-packed week of announcements.

Of course, that’s all still dependent on whether publishers will actually participate. Sony has been pretty good at throwing Keighley the odd scrap of news, but it prefers to schedule announcements on its own terms these days. There’s no mention of whether PlayStation will be involved with Summer Game Fest, but Keighley says the show will blend live gameplay demonstrations with announcements.

“Over the past three years, Summer Game Fest has cultivated an incredible community around the world through our digital-first events, and we’re thrilled to invite thousands of fans to experience the Summer Game Fest show in-person for the first time in 2023,” he beamed. “In keeping with tradition, we’ll have tons of exciting announcements from the developers that are pushing the games industry forward, and will once again highlight other publisher digital events, demos, and more surprises to be announced in the coming months.”

Obviously, Keighley’s focus right now is on The Game Awards, which is a week away. Thus, more information on ticketing and publisher participation in Summer Game Fest will be announced in due course. Things are heating up, though, huh?
