The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me is releasing next month, on 18th November, and we got a new Halloween-themed trailer to celebrate. The gory Saw film franchise has been cited as influencing this particular outing, and it shows, with some of the nightmarish scenarios presented in this sneak peek reminding us of the impossible situations found in those movies.

The Devil in Me follows a down-and-out team of would-be documentarians as they attempt to save their show by spending a night in a modern-day recreation of H.H Holmes' infamous "Murder Castle". Of course, thanks to a convenient storm and the mysterious disappearance of their host, it's only a matter of time before things start to take a turn for the terrifying.

If you didn't know, the real-life Holmes is widely regarded as America's first true serial killer, renovating the hotel he owned to include all kinds of unique improvements like fake walls, peepholes, torture chambers and even a basement furnace. Before his execution, Holmes claimed to have murdered 27 people (although he was only ever convicted of one) and, during the trial, uttered the immortal phrase from which the game takes its title: "I was born with the devil in me. I could not help the fact that I was a murderer, no more than the poet can help the inspiration to sing."

It's a setting ripe for exploration, and with the numerous gameplay enhancements coming to this next entry in The Dark Pictures Anthology, shaping up to be the very best yet. We were impressed by what we have seen so far.
