Overwatch 2 PS5 PS4 PlayStation

Overwatch 2 has been plagued with issues ever since it launched, facing DDoS attacks, controversial phone number requirements, having to pull several heroes due to bugs, and the removal of aim assist on console, but the turbulent waters seem to be calming. And despite it all, the free-to-play shooter appears to be a monumental success, attracting more than 25 million players in its first 10 days alone.

It's especially impressive when you consider that 25 million players represent nearly three times as many players as the original Overwatch had at its peak. If you build it, the gamers will come, as the old adage goes.

Blizzard seems pretty chuffed, too, despite everything, and notes that they are happy with the current results they are seeing in-game, in terms of balancing. Expect to see changes in the future, but at least for the next month, there will be no major buffs or nerfs to the game's current roster of playable characters. Double XP weekends are coming as well to soothe those of us burned by long queue times and crashes.

Has your Overwatch 2 experience improved in recent days? What do you think of that 25 million player milestone? Is that more or less than you would have expected? Launch yourself heedlessly into the fray in the comments section below.
