Story-Focused Battlefield Game Now in Development at New Studio

Is the world finally clicking on that we do love our single player campaigns and story driven games.
You only have to look at Sonys games to work that out.

Looks like I'll play the next Battlefield then !

I want them to make a game in the same vein as Tom Cruise's Maverick. Have characters in it who are there because they're the best at what they do and make them believable, and not because they tick a load of diversity boxes.

So bad company 3 that everyone has been asking for for years?

@riceNpea Yea dunno what the hype is with that movie it sucked for me. 10 mins of jet training, 10 mins of jet fighting and 100 mins of "I hate you, you killed my daddy".

There is never going to be a bad company 3..E.A. cant figure out what made bad company 2 so damn good so whatever magic happened making the best shooter in the series has been lost forever..please god no "maverik" type storys,characters...keep it real and gritty not hollywood and sh*tty..

Im all for singleplayer but story mode in battlefield has been abysmal.

Are there any stories that are only possible within Battlefield? As far as I know it's just another war-filled world.

Interesting. It's not Dice so while Battlefield has never been known for single player campaigns, it's a whole new team making this so we don't really know what to expect here. I wonder if this is going to do a reverse 2042 and drop multiplayer or if there still will be a multiplayer even though it isn't the focus of the game.

Bad Company 3? 🤔

Well, this sounds promising but after the flaming, stinking, toxic dumpster fire that was BF 2042, I’ll wait for this to not only be reviewed well, but on sale to boot. EA and Battlefield will never get my $$ at launch again after the successive TERRIBLE releases of BF V & BF 2042. NO. WAY.

@Korgon bf2042 was the only entry that didnt have a single player campaign..granted apart from bad company 1+2 they were not great but they had campaigns..

Doubt it's a BC3 which is a shame, but I do hope it turns out good.
Don't remember anything from BF3 nor 4, 5...

It's gonna have to be good for me to buy now that I think about it.

Yup. Battlefield: Hardline is a prime example. I actually had a blast with that game. Too bad it didn't sell and cost Visceral their jobs.

Yeah I know. I only played a little of Battlefield 4's campaign...never finished it because it crashed all the time and the autosave didn't work🤦‍♂️. To this day the most broken at launch game I ever bought. I learned a good lesson there!

@Dezzy70 so is it okay for primarily multiplayer games to go single player , but is it a problem when single players try multiplayer ?

and yeah sonys exclusives are so good that they’ll carry the playstation brand alone when this activision deal goes through 😂😂😂 sure . majority of those sales that made playstation bank in the past sure did come from all those single player purists 😂😂😂

Absolutely for me, I like single player games
So why wouldn’t I want that.
It’s just a gamers personal choice to what they prefer.
As for the Activision deal and even the Bethesda deal we shall see.
In the UK we have thousands of series x and series s sitting on shop shelves gathering dust, so those deals so far have done nothing for Xbox sales.
Even when Sony put the price of their console up and charge £70 a game the PS5 come in stock and sells.
Xbox this generation will stand third end of and before we get all fan boy. I have all three consoles since day one.

@nomither6 Most of the time its tacked on and takes away quality from the singleplayer experience.

Does this really need to be stated? It’s not a selling point. Of course these have been topics of discussion in recent months and years and there certainly should be a diverse team of creatives on board without the pressure of crunch to look forward to.

Can we not just presume this is the case unless exposed otherwise and focus on what’s going to be the reason why players will want to play this game?

If this is the ethos of the studio laid-out, then that’s fine, but again, can we not just presume they provide equal opportunities and don’t force their employees to sleep under their desks until we find out otherwise?

also , if you can - can you list any examples of multiplayer taking away from single player experiences ?

If you think that’s bad the first ones even worst. Replace the you killed my daddy with over an hour of cheesy romance. Plus there’s even less planes than in Maverick.

@Deemo37 I watched it as a child but remember nothing so it clearly did not impress.

@nomither6 The latest BF has shown us that this is nonsense multiplayer only and it still was a trainwreck.
