We already know that upcoming remaster Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is jaw-dropping in terms of graphical improvements, but what about the gameplay? The original PSP title was rather unwieldy all the way back in 2007, so our hope has always been that Square Enix would tweak how the action RPG plays so that it holds up here in 2022.
And by the sounds of it, that's exactly what it's doing.
A new post from the official Final Fantasy VII account provides a taste of what to expect. It lists "improved camera and character movements", an "optimised user interface", and a "new menu-based battle system". We don't quite know the scope of these improvements just yet, but it certainly sounds promising.
We'll likely be seeing more of Reunion in the relatively near future — it's still set to release for PS5 and PS4 "this winter", after all. In the meantime, what do you want from Zack's return? Are there any particular enhancements that you desire? Go toe-to-toe with Sephiroth in the comments section below.
Very excited to finally play this
I am excited to see how they handle the final fight with the improved gameplay… 🥺
Also hoping they keep the secret boss and story related how will Genesis tie up with this new story direction the franchise is taking.
Iirc there was licencing issues for this game due to GACKT appearing in the game at some point. 🤔
Looking forward to trying this for the first time!
It’s largely cringey fanfiction levels story wise but I did enjoy it back in the day. We’ll see how it holds up on the big screen and camera improvements sound great. The PSP only had the one stick after all.
If the new battle system is anything like VII Remake, I'm down. It's a good time to be a FF fan.
It's it going to have the remake cast or advent children/kh cast?
I hated the old gameplay the game looked fantastic. Cloud will still be my favorite but this is how they should have remade FF7.
Is this game definitely confirmed for 2022,as they said this winter which does include January and February 2023
@UltimateOtaku91 Yeah, they said winter 2022, just to be clear.
A battle system similar to FFVIIR would be great, as I felt that the combat system was the best part of that game. Excited for this game, but will probably try to pick it up on Switch instead of PS
@ShogunRok Several stores have it listed on 31-3-2023, lets hope that's a placeholder then.
@nessisonett "It’s largely cringey fanfiction levels story wise." That's being incredibly generous
@ShogunRok Didn't they just say "this Winter"? Because that could still be early '23.
Or did they update that since?
@WizzNL @UltimateOtaku91 Hey, @Voltan's right you know — the trailer does just say "this winter". I think we just assumed that meant winter this year, so we'll have to wait and see.
Sounds like it's traditional turn based battle still, which is surprising but welcome.
@AgentMantis LOL, how true. The more they "added" to the VV7 story, the worse it got, and this is no exception. But it was a cool little game.
@Flaming_Kaiser I agree that I'd have preferred the FF7 remake to be like this rather than.....whatever spinoff they actually made it into.
@ShogunRok wouldnt be surprised it being in 2023 since square already have 8 games coming the rest of the year
Cool.definetly getting this.i enjoy the psp version of final fantasy 7 crisis core.word up son
I'll wait for a sale and maybe not even then. I don't do the spin-offs, but this is the one everyone hypes. Unfortunately I'm not big on cringe fanfic or retcon, so I might just keep on living only knowing the OG Zack ending of unceremoniously being popped, which I feel is more powerful anyway.
Don't forget the stuttering on pc. That's a feature /s.
Really though I just hope the dmw is not as intrusive as it was back then and it's close to ff7r in terms of combat.
Platinuming the hell out of this game
@AndyKazama the GACKT is back
Wow, nice. The menu battle system is the most interesting to me.
Not big on playing remakes, but SE (and Capcom) at a minimum put in the effort to help justify the price to some extent.
We don't want remasters or remakes we want new games unless it's one I like then we do want them lol
@MrXstomping it was sarcasm because alot of people on here & px seem to hate remasters & remakes unless it's something like this
@danzoEX Same plan here, though I'm not looking forward to having to 100% the secret dungeon and boss.
Crisis Core has one of the greatest endings of all time & say what you will but the slot machine system enhances it with the cutscenes in mid-battle.
I wonder how they’ll handle that, because the ending should be 1:1. Don’t mess with that.
@NEStalgia It takes so long its not complete who knows how we will have to wait for the complete game.... ☹️
I wanted to relive my memories with better graphics the best thing that came from FF7R is Jessie Rasberry. 🤪
@WizzNL Not Gamemania. 🤪
@Flaming_Kaiser Nah BOL and a couple others, but ive seen several with 31-12-2022 as well now. So i'll just assume its placeholders.
@Flaming_Kaiser LOL absolutely agreed!
@NEStalgia Somehow u hope they bring her back or let us know she is alive. Aerith needs to stay dead i love her but it would destroy the impact of the ending.
