The long-awaited Resident Evil Village DLC has been revealed as Shadows of Rose, a new expansion that takes place after the events of the main game and focuses on Ethan Winters' daughter. It's releasing on 28th October 2022 along with two other content updates: more playable characters for the Mercenaries mode as well as a third-person mode for the base game.

This will all be packaged together in a Gold Edition out on the same day for PS5 and PS4, or you can simply buy Shadows of Rose if you already own the game. Set 16 years after the original game, Rosemary "has grown up and is now struggling with terrifying powers. In search of a way to break free from her curse, Rose enters the consciousness of the Megamycete. Rose's journey takes her to a mysterious realm where memories of the past return to create a warped and twisted world of nightmares." This DLC takes place in the third-person perspective.

The third-person mode will then let you see Ethan Winters at all times should you wish to replay the game using the fresh perspective, while Mercenaries lets you play as Chris Redfield, Heisenberg, and Lady Dimitrescu. There'll also be new stages to play on. Finally, releasing on the same day will be multiplayer mode Resident Evil Re:Verse.
