Over the past few years, Babylon's Fall developer PlatinumGames and April Fools pranks have gone hand in hand. Just searching the two terms in our internal database brings up a whole list of previous jokes. And, not to be outdone by past attempts, the Japanese team has today put together a small presentation where it "announces" nine new games. A 10th title is included, but that's Sol Cresta, which is actually real and has already been released on PlayStation 4.
The games are:
- Galactic Badass Beat 'Em Up Action (WIP)
- Battle Action Block-Breaking Game (WIP)
- Sci-Fi Superhuman Soccer (WIP)
- PT Spectacular Side-Scrolling Action (WIP)
- Constella-Style Side Scrolling Shooting (WIP)
- High-Speed Action Racing (WIP)
- Dynamite Sexy Puzzle Game (WIP)
- Ultimate Top-View B*stard Action (WIP)
- Apocalyptic Giant Robot Fighting (WIP)
All nine titles are pitched under the "Neo-Classic Arcade" banner, which is said to carry "on the spirit and fun of classic gaming using modern technology". Given PlatinumGames' track record, we wouldn't be surprised if one or two of these titles were actually real — Sol Cresta also started out life as an April Fools joke, after all. But will they be any good? Recent projects would suggest not. Babylon's Fall, we're looking at you. At least Hideki Kamiya gets to have some fun in the video embedded above.
This tongue in cheek skit from PlatinumGames is all just a bit of light entertainment, but remember: don't believe everything you read on the internet for the next 24 hours. Unless we here at Push Square post about it, of course.

The best/worst April fools joke was that Yakuza 7 would be using turn-based combat. I was really relieved to realize that it was an April fools, then they decided that it wasn't ;~

The only good April Fools Day jokes from the industry were Yakuza 7 being turn-based and that Legend of Zelda movie trailer from IGN when I was in middle school.
Yeah these guys stopped being funny a long time ago. Just get on with Bayonetta 3 already or at least give us an idea on what's going on.

@Bingbongboyo yeah I have loads to keep my mind occupied and a shed load of games in the backlog. At least I get plenty of game time instead of the odd hour a week.

@rachetmarvel Their lack of communication for a start. They haven't said a word in regards to Bayonetta 3 for a while now and when they do decide to come out and say something it's this rubbish. Nobody cares about April Fools anymore.

They did say the neo classic thing was gonna be a series of games so I doubt this is actually an April fools joke. Just hope we'll be able to see em all come to fruition. I'm also glad the next one will be a brawler

Also quite a lot of people still care for April fools since a buncha devs are joking around with it. It's pretty fun to see which announcements are fake and which ones are actually real projects

I hate how modern day gamers think they are owed anything. If you haven't payed for the product, then the devs owe you nothing. Thus the game would be talked about be the devs, in due time.
