The Last of Us Day, Naughty Dog's annual celebration of its post-apocalyptic property, is happening this weekend, on Sunday the 26th September — and you know what that means. Is it finally time for the series' highly anticipated multiplayer project to be revealed? Well, while we would advise against getting your hopes up — we've all been burned before — Naughty Dog does say that it has "all-new content" to show on the big day.
In a fresh PlayStation Blog post — which mostly details some new PlayStation Gear Store merchandise — the developer writes: "we will be revealing some all-new content on September 26 at 9:00am PT/ 6:00pm CET. Be sure to come back and check it out on TheLastofUs.com/TLOUDay." At the time of writing this article, that link doesn't actually lead anywhere.
So what could this "all-new content" actually be? Well, with the way that it's worded, it could honestly be anything. A first real look at the upcoming The Last of Us HBO TV show? A new in-universe comic book series? The Last of Us: Part II Factions multiplayer? Hmmmm.
Whatever it ends up being, we'll be covering the announcement here on Push Square. Until then, feel free to make some outlandish predictions in the comments section below.

Factions and tlou remake......🤔🤔
Joel and Marlene Sackboy costumes.
@Octane I laughed way too hard at this
I miss the art prints. The first 2 outbreak days were the best, none of this clothes no one wants but some amazing art prints
Maybe DLC for 2 with Joel's brother? Maybe Factions, first look at the show?Maybe (and more likely) nothing of note.
TLOU2 Director's Cut with Fractions and a £20 upgrade probably.
I think we are going to see dlc like in the first game, about 6 hours long and releasing summer time 2022. Like with Ghost of T, but not as long or expansive.
I'm thinking TLOU2 Directors Cut with the first trailer for the HBO show. I feel like Factions is something they would save a demo for a bigger Playstation Showcase.
Just a two minute clip... of Ellie waking up in a panicked sweat then heading out into the hallway and peering into the next room to see Joel asleep in bed... will more than suffice.
Come on ND, we’re not asking for much.
Contentious 🤔
They could do like Apex and just release out of nowhere, polished and ready to play.
I'm still expecting the multiplayer TLoU to be a Battle Royale.
Probably the last of us remastered remastered
I am a simple man. I see Naughty Dog, I'm hyped.
@fR_eeBritney Your comment takes me all the way back to 1986 when the second most memorable shower scene (after Psycho and, more recently, before porn!) occurred in the series Dallas. I didn't watch the show, but it used to be essential viewing back in the day (like on a Game of Thrones type scale). In the final episode of Season 9, Pamela Ewing woke to hear the shower running, walked into the bathroom to find her husband Bobby Ewing taking a shower. All well and good, except Bobby had been killed off at the end of Season 8 after the actor playing him left the show (and was watched by an audience of 300 million, and there was no catch-up TV back then. You either watched it or missed it, so you can imagine just how big the show was). It meant that the entirety of Season 9 had been a dream, all 31 episodes. It became known as a Dream Scene...
Having a 'Dream Scene' in The Last of Us Part 2, would be pretty incredible. I'm all for it though...
I don't think they ever announced anything major during Outbreak Day, so I'm not expecting anything this year either.
Maybe some merchandise or pics from the HBO series and that's it.
Definitely a golf mini-game with balls based on your favourite characters.
Too soon?
That Abby t shirt is horrible
Grand Theft Auto 5 announcement where yiu plays as Ellie in online mode…
@Grimwood The PS Blog post says "all-new content", which is a weird word to use for merch - but I'm not expecting any game/tv stuff either.
Brotherly love?
Hmm well IMO since this is TLOU Day and Not TLOU II day the new ontent shouldn't have anything to do with TLOUII as thile thats a part two it's not what TLOU day was created for or about. It's a celibration or rememberance of the day society collapsed. As for thet TV show while it could be that I'm not sure how close the two are connected production wise.
A few wallpapers to download, some hbo set pics and at most a confirmation that the multiplayer is coming along nicely - I don’t think anything game related has ever been announced on outbreak day (that I can remember anyway)
The jackets not bad, although very expensive for what it is, would love to get the guitar but not at over 2k. Would get the black shirt but doesn't ship to outside America only the red one. Hopefully on Sunday some good and available products will be revealed. Also don't understand how some are preorder for release next year, they've had a year to get this planned or manufactured surely.
I don't have my hopes uonfor any game related info, I think factions will be revealed when it's complete with a release shortly after, considering they're still hiring for staff i wouldn't be surprised if its late 2022. Look forward to the remakes on ps5 though
@Old-Red
I am still waiting for the PS5 version of Last of Us 2 before buying it. I waited for Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima, which has paid off. I am confident a PS5 version of The Last of Us 2 is coming.
(I didn't buy any first party PS4 games last year because I anticipated PS5 "remasters.")
New merch and "thank you for playing Ellie and Abbie's story"
There's not a chance in hell that they've filmed enough material AND sliced it together to make a trailer.
I want to replay The Last of Us 2 but I know as soon as I do they will announce a PS5 version...
Maybe that board game we were promised last TLoU Day that never appeared
For the love of god and all real fans...
A zombie dlc where joel come back to life.. arghh death and kill everyone! Nd: you kill joel? F....!!!!! The franchise is dead to me!
Abby Story DLC.
What happens after the boat?!... make something like Iki island or Miles Morales and it will sell millions.
Why do I get a feeling that it'll be a Director's Cut again and perhaps even announcement of a PC port.
They really need to give an update on the multiplayer game. It’s weird that we don’t see any concern article asking the right questions about facts.
It’s probably some more merchandise hopefully not related to golf.
I'd like them to announce they've decided to give up on the MP game entirely and are instead getting busy working on The Last of Us Part III.
😉
It IS called The Last of Us, not the Joel Miller Game. Some people need to accept that he was a bad man and on borrowed time. Seriously, some of y'all need counselling or something lol.
@Col_McCafferty Agreed. Joel was an ***** that only did one good thing simce the outbreak. If the game was set a few years earlier, Joel would have been one of the Hunters you fight in the original game. People say he is good and bad, I disagree. I would apply that to Tommy. While he started off bad, Tommy would go onto help establish a community for everyone to be safe. Joel became a criminal and smuggler. He only cared about himself.
New T-Shirt design reveal and a led torch for collectors.
It must be a PS5 Director's Cut I bet. Still not played it so I'll probably get the DC version but not if it's £70 tho :-/
I miss it being called Outbreak Day, TLOU Day sounds dumb; but I get it, it’s a bit weird after these last couple of years.
@AyanamiReign not gonna lie if its done right , i could see a last of us br game being pretty fun. you are a part of the faction and you have to fight other factions while also fighting off the infected.
I'm hoping for TLOU Part 2 DLC, a Director's Cut PS5 edition, more comic books, and an update on the HBO TV series.
I would love Faction MP with bots and the Battle Royal mode that they promised because right now at the moment I am running fresh out of online friends because I am started to get lost even since last year because I was not going to buy Joel's guitar that was 2 grand even it was like a micro transaction that is making me sick because I am still saving money to move to Florida even with the artwork that I did not really care about. I mean the story was okay and the gameplay n' graphics was great but the only problem was that there was false advertising from the trailer last year that was subverting the expectations and that it reminded me of The Last Jedi back in 2017 when all of the Star Wars fans like me went berserk. I hope Naughty Dog does not mess up this time because last year was like a bloodbath and this year was getting worse and it still is...
@Splat I'm in the same position as you. I really want a PS5 version.
