Man, that latest Trails game looks bloody good, doesn't it? Titled Kuro no Kiseki, it releases for PlayStation 4 this very week in Japan, and it takes place after the excellent Trails of Cold Steel series. It's pretty much the next evolution in Falcom's long running The Legend of Heroes franchise.
Anyway, ever since it was announced, Western fans have been pondering over an eventual launch outside of Japan. At the time of writing, there's been no official word, even though NIS America has confirmed that it'll be publishing four Trails titles in 2022 and 2023, including the two Crossbell games, Cold Steel sequel Trails into Reverie, and The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails.
But there's still hope. In a recent interview with Famitsu — as reported by Nintendo Enthusiast — Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo acknowledged the "overseas demand" for Kuro no Kiseki, when asked about a potential PS5 version of the game.
it's likely that we will eventually get Kuro no Kiseki here in the West, but looking at NIS America's aforementioned release schedule for the localisation of other Trails games, it could be a long time until it finally arrives. Hopefully the publisher can slot it in sooner rather than later, because there's real hype surrounding this new instalment.

Localizing a JRPG is a real monster of a task so as long as we get it someday I'm fine waiting.
I'm trying not to think about this one for the time being. We got plenty of Trails love coming starting next year so I'm happy. I'm not watching trailers for this game yet though as it would just make the wait more difficult.
Bring us all the Trails! Can we get the Sky Trilogy on something more modern than a PSP as well?
God I need to catch up, I’m a couple chapters into Ao now so hopefully it won’t be too long!
@Korgon Yeah I've been avoiding news about this game as much as I possibly can. Haven't even watched a single trailer!
Will I be all over a PS5 version of this?...YARP!
These games are in dire need of graphical update like Tales.
Really hope NIS start translating it soon rather than waiting till after they’ve completed Trails into Reverie in 2023.
So 2025 It Is Then By The Time We Get This Game They Will Already Be On The 3rd Game In The Arc.
Yeah... they might be aware, but localization times are horrible. It's what is creating problems.
Falcom have to change procedure so localization can be delivered in a timely fashion in the west.
@TripleKing333 PC exists.
@Athrum Bamco is a big publisher and graphics have in no way helped the quality of the tales series.
Falcom makes better games story and gameplay wise. That is what is important. The graphics are serviceable and that is fine with me. The focus is in the right place.
Dear Falcom, more Ys please...
instead of The legend of heroes: Trails in the cold sky of azure steel but don't dare call us Persona just because we have social links but wait, what?! there's mechs?!? part VIII (of 56).
= if you're a fan of the series, more power to ya, enjoy! 😁
Only finally got round to playing the firsts TOCS game earlier this year, and I got hooked. Brilliant series and I think it stands up there as one of the most expansive stories I've played. It reminds me of the good seasons of Game of thrones, complete with family and country politics that go along with it. If it didn't have very anime dialogue I think more people would be talking about this game as one of the best gaming stories
@Nem Thanks, I obviously come to Push Square because I’m a PC gamer haha.
@TripleKing333 That's a you problem. I come to push square and got PS, PC and nintendo. Got only yourself to blame for missing the games on both psp and vita.
@Nem Its a Falcom problem if anything. They are leaving money on the table by not fully catering to the fans they have brought in during the PS4 generation through Cold Steel.
@Batesy125s I am currently playing ToCS 1. Never played a Trails game before. You are totally right about the story and the graphics. I had never tried them before because they looked so cheesy (I am a grafix nerd, yes). I tried the ff7 remake before this and HATED it. The realistic graphics paired with the stupid dialogue and voices was just ...I don't know.. creepy. Feeling let down and missing turn based battles, I gave ToCS a try and I love it.
I'd love to see a localized PS5 version, hopefully that becomes a reality.
@TripleKing333 They'll live. Sky never sold much in the west anyway and it's an old game.
Worry more about what's ahead than behind. Especially if you think getting a game on pc is a problem. Especially when you ignored it in the PS systems it released on.
The money Falcom would be losing is likely not worth the cost of a port.
Show them you care when the trails of zero/azure come out. Maybe they will care then.
Haha, your hostility over me wanting to support Falcom by buying a game is hilarious. We get it. You're the Alpha Nerd Gatekeeper. You are so much cooler for knowing about this series before me, well done you. Pat on the back, here's a medal.
It's not "ignoring" something if you are completely unaware of its existence at that point in time.
And yes, purchasing a PC to play a game IS a "problem". I've used Mac since 2010 for music production and the thought of going back to Windows is disgusting, and that's the last I'll say on the matter because this is going off topic. I'm sure you'll reply to have the last word, but don't bother. I won't be reading it.
