Destruction AllStars is alive and well on PlayStation 5 — in fact, today sees the arrival of a big update to the vehicle-smashing multiplayer game. Season one, entitled Hotshots, is rolling out right now, with a 13GB game update available to download.
So, what does this new season bring to the table? Well, as outlined last week, quite a bit. First and foremost, season one introduces Alba, a new playable AllStar, one who can summon blockers from the floor while on foot, and has a laser-firing hero vehicle. But she's far from the only addition; the AllStar Pass is a battle pass-style system with which you can unlock all kinds of seasonal cosmetics. The more you play, the more you level up your AllStar Pass, and the more goodies you get. Furthermore, a photo mode is being added (though it will only work in single player matches of course), and Blitz is coming to season one a little later — a ranked game mode for the serious smashers among you.
As well as all that new content, the game's patch notes list some nice changes and bug fixes. Trophies that wouldn't pop before should now unlock, voice chat options have been improved, some balancing has been implemented (sorry, Bluefang users), and there's lots more besides.

Uninstalled the first week after having such high hopes and this Season 1 road map only looks to keep me far away
How is the online anyway busy enough? Don't think I've ever seen a single friend play it... I assumed it was dead.
@solocapers Matchmaking can take a minute sometimes (in Europe anyway) but it's not too bad IMO
That Boxtop story mode is really tempting me to spend money on this game
Shame there's no new trophies to get.
Hopefully my ps has already updated otherwise it will be a late evening slamathon.
@Voltan Matchmaking is exhausting in Canada, especially if you want to play anything other than single player Mayhem.
@2cents Yeah same, with this season crap it feels like it's building one of those giant red shield domes like in Justice League to keep me far far away...not that I wasn't already keeping my distance anyway from boredom the game.

I wish I enjoyed this game but I got bored of it rather quickly.
I downloaded it at launch and never played it before I deleted it. It was nothing like the game I was expecting. I wanted a mix of rocket league and Blur and after watching Eurogamer play it I decided it was neither.
Game is dead, ive tried to jump on a game a couple times in the last few weeks..all to no avail. Just wasted time. This is a shame this game had potential but just not enough substance.
Just bought the battle pass. I've spent over 50 hours on it so Lucid games deserves some cash.
I can't see where the hate is coming from for this game. It only lacked a sense of progression and the battlepass sorts that out. Everything else is true ps5, from the controller to the 3D audio. Plus it was free!
Maybe that is the reason people aren't prepared to invest any time in it, as they see it as a throwaway.
This game could be so much more than it is

I love this game, it's like fall guys meets wreckfest 😂 not going to appeal to everyone but there is always players online when I try to play once or twice a week. Great news about the new content I hope they keep it coming and more people play the game.
Yeah I just bought the battle pass, I've played it enough to throw some support to Lucid. Fun game though trying to get all the trophies for the individual drivers can get frustrating.
