Watch Dogs Legion is getting a 60 frames-per-second update on PlayStation 5, a Ubisoft representative has confirmed in a Reddit question-and-answer. While there’s currently no window attached to this performance upgrade, a spokesperson said that the feature is in development now, and “we’ll announce the exact release dates with our future title updates”.
It’s worth reiterating that this patch is only in development for Sony’s next-gen console; there’ll be no increased framerate option added to the PS4 version. Currently the game runs at 30 frames-per-second on PS5, but it does feature full raytracing support; presumably the studio will need to tone that down in order to hit the higher framerate, like Insomniac Games was able to with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

If a game runs at 60fps in a forest...
It's a shame that every single frame will still be a boring, lifeless slog.
@Deadhunter That almost made me spit out my coffee. Have your heart.
@Deadhunter I liked aspects of it, but it could have been better.

Played like 1 hour of the demo that went up last week and was super bored along with it not being very pretty to look at. It was a bit weird that they only let ps5 owners play the ps4 version. Like they thought letting people play a worse version of their game was a good way to market.
Awesome news. But I really like the Ray Tracing in that game. The framerate is fine so far, if Ray Tracing is gone with 60 fps, I won't use that.
Wait...the PS5 version is not 60fps? LOL
I literally finished the story yesterday, damn it Ubisoft lol
About bloody time. The game really isn’t that bad tbh. I will resume my playthrough and finish it when the 60 FPS patch arrives.
It seems, some people didn't recognize yet, when graphics and details improve, keeping a high framerate is still a problem. That doesn't change on a PS5.
And Watch Dogs Legion is a graphical high demanding game.
So quit your LOLs
@AFCC why LOL?! The game is running 4K with raytracing and looks absolutely amazing . Honestly i haven't even noticed it is running at 30fps .. If they could update it with a 4k raytracing 60fps version that would be even better of course.
@Tatarimokke that's what I mean. The game looks incredible, I too didn't notice the framerate as something low. Because it runs so fluid, no matter what happens. Even with a lot of traffic and people walking around with their own routes. Weather is changing in real time, it has its own day night cycle. Animated commercials in buildings and cars.
But thats not enough for some fools, who think this game isn't good, because some reviews told that to them. 😉

I really liked the FREE weekend and seeing all the negativity makes me feel slightly embarassed. I LOVED the virtual tourism of London, the missions felt varied, permadeath forced me to lose some valuable characters (and even had to start over after 10+ hrs) and walking into my local pub and absolutely cold clocking everybody made me feel good after a hard mission. I did not get a chance to play online but WatchDogs 1 online was great - the hide and go seek/ cat and mouse game was great fun!
I'm sure, the Watch Dogs series is hardly misunderstood.
Many people, who didn't really play it, think it's a GTA clone. But Watch Dogs doesn't try to be.
Watch Dogs is really different.
I fell in love with the first game, after I recognized, how good it was. It told a good story, had a good main character, often reminded me to Splinter Cell and offered a unique Gameplay experience with its stealth/action approach with Hacking mechanics. I also enjoyed its dark setting.
Watch Dogs 2 really was a change in setting.
But after some hours, I also enjoyed it a lot. A lot of Gameplay mechanics were improved, it had so many good moments and little things, only Watch Dogs does. It also had a pretty great sense of jokes, only in this game.
And Watch Dogs Legion also has a lot of strong points. The beginning minutes were not that great to me, but after an hour I started also really liking it.
And i didn't expect, that Ubisoft really gets it done with the new concept, but they did.
It's unbelievable what level of detail was put into it, bringing this "recruit everyone" system to life.
I really enjoy, that every Watch Dogs game is a bit different. Which shows that Ubisoft really knows, how to handle games in an open world by now.
I really enjoyed Watchdogs 2 (although the driving mechanics were still way too arcadey). Watchdogs 3 is just more of the same except with characters you don’t care about, a story that’s meh & no character progression system because of the ability to choose anyone (a technical marvel but gameplay misstep in my opinion).
I just wish Ubisoft would give us what we’ve been asking for - a new Splinter Cell & proper Rainbow Six (Vegas) game. Although I’m afraid it would be a barstardised, soulless open world game built around microtransactions & broken AI that has nothing to do with Tom Clancy’s vision or the games that came before it.
Too much negativity surrounding this game. I thought it was good overall and look forward to the 60fps option. 60fps option was the whole reason I got a PS5!
@Tatarimokke I said lol because I played it for a bit the other day thinking it had 60fps and I didn't notice xD
I really enjoyed it. I also thought it looked and ran great on the PS5.
Sounds cool Really want to play it(as I live in London) but with my back-log of games I still haven't played it.
Great to hear about this update, but the game itself needs a major facelift...wake me up when it's free on PS Plus lol.
