Borderlands Claptrap

In what might be the most obvious bit of movie casting in the past 24 hours, it has been confirmed that Jack Black will play the role of Claptrap in the upcoming Borderlands movie. Because of course he is. He joins Jamie Lee Curtis (Tannis), Kevin Hart (Roland), and Cate Blanchett (Lilith) as confirmed actors for the live-action adaptation of Gearbox Software's hit video game series. With Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin writing the flick, it looks like Jack Black will provide the voice of Claptrap as the charismatic character takes CG form.

Director Eli Roth said: "I am so excited to reunite with Jack, this time in the recording booth. Claptrap is the funniest character in the game, and Jack is perfect to bring him to the big screen." Roth has previously collaborated with Jack Black in The House with a Clock in Its Walls, while the actor's previous work includes the rebooted Jumanji series. "It’s one of the biggest no-brainer casting decisions we’ve ever made. Everyone who’s ever played the game knows Jack is perfect for this part. We’re thrilled he will add his endless comic energy and voice to our film — he’ll bring so much to the movie", said Lionsgate Motion Picture Group president Nathan Kahane.
