Hitman 3 has enjoyed the biggest digital launch in franchise history, which seems like a noteworthy achievement considering the inaugural entry in the World of Assassination trilogy adopted an episodic model. Of course, the game did launch on a larger roster of platforms this time around – including even Nintendo Switch and Google Stadia – and the industry is generally skewing more towards downloads during these pandemic times.

That means, ultimately, that retail sales are probably down compared to Hitman 2, so it’ll be interesting to see how well the release has performed overall. Take nothing away from developer IO Interactive, though: the title is excellent and, while the launch was a little wonky at first, it responded rapidly and got everything working fairly fast.
