Hogwarts Legacy is far and away one of the most anticipated PlayStation 5 titles for 2021 here at Push Square, with three members of the editorial team considering themselves Harry Potter nerds. It's a bit of a dream project then, and those part of the Reddit community that has built up around the game can say the same. Close to 20,000 witches and wizards have joined the page so far, with many sharing what they hope is included in the game.
User darthgator23 hopes to see rideable dragons since the ability to mount Hippogriffs appears to already be a thing, as per the announcement trailer. "I just think it would awesome. Imagine cruising over hogwarts/hogsmead with a dragon. Sure there would be restrictions, but come on! A dragon!" Meanwhile, HarryTriangles wishes for a very involved wand-picking process where you would answer questions based on lore. "The wand chooses the wizard", after all. SnooObjections6638 then brings up the topic of romance, with the possibility of striking up a relationship with another witch or wizard. It's also good to see that this question was brought up responsibly as Hogwarts Legacy will deal with underage students.
User tvnzim then goes one step further by creating their very own skill tree, with new powers and spells to unlock. Based on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, they think the runic nature of Cal Kestis' upgrade branches would also suit the setting of Hogwarts Legacy.
What do you think of these ideas? Do you hope they are a part of the actual game or should they remain fan fiction for now? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

This message has been updated from a previous version to make clearer Push Square's stance on the topic:
Hogwarts Legacy does not exist in a vacuum. There are important discussions being had about the views and opinions held by the creator of the Harry Potter universe – views and opinions which we do not agree with.
Our goal is to create and foster a positive environment for people – all people – to discuss and celebrate video games, not to amplify ignorance or provide a forum for unconstructive arguments. As per our community rules, we do not accept any form of hate speech on our platform.
I’d like for it to feel like a fully fledged single-player experience rather than looking like a sterile, MMO-style hands-off experience. The trailer just kinda lacked some, for want of a better word, magic.
Digging the skill tree for sure, nice design.
Even though it hadn't yet been created in the game's timeline, I'm really hoping for a game map that functions like the Marauder's Map. I could lose hours just watching people walk around the castle.
Lol the subreddit is just full of people's wish lists and hyping the game out of proportions. It's just Cyberpunk all over again...

Good afternoon. Here's the 14.15 gaming news: people have commented on a Harry Potter game thread on reddit.
/turns off laptop, turns volume up on TV, watches Judge Judy
Where do I apply for a job? 😁
I hope that they take their time and not make a cyberpunk 2077 move by releasing it unfinished. Only time can tell!
@Hyperluminal Judge Judy is a regular fixture here at Push Square Towers.
Online coop. Online coop. Online coop.
Hope I'm being clear. Am I?
It's risky speculating what you think a games going to be like long before the developers have told you what it will actually be.
It's too easy to dream something big, and get hurt when it's different. Games can be so many things.
It's a pipe dream considering it's WB, but I just don't want it to be monetized to hell and back.
So excited for this game. Hope WB do it justice
I'd just be happy with a Bully-esque open world game with a neat little skill tree and fun wand-based combat.
I don't think it needs to be anything too ambitious to meet my expectations really. Hope they can do it justice, I can't wait to see more.
I just hope that it's the full scale castle, with plenty of secret rooms, hallways, and whatnot to discover. I would also appreciate if the castle was fairly realistic. The original Harry Potter games had these weird enormous rooms filled with stupid platforming challenges. None of that please.
Items like invisibility cloak and the likes would be neat too.
And I guess the spells and potion recipes could be part of an upgradable tree. Would be great if you can sneak out at night using the invisibility cloak, sneak into the hidden section of the library, find the right book, and BAM! you learned Avada Kedavra! And yes, that should work on all NPCs.
@get2sammyb it's a fun show. Um is not an answer!
I just hope they include Quidditch.
@Ken_Kaniff They have to do it right if they do. I mean maybe this would be far too ambitious, but I wouldn't mind Quidditch being its entire own mode with online multiplayer et al.
I haven’t seen the trailer for this yet and I haven’t played Persona 5 yet so this is definitely coming from between my lower cheeks, but I feel like a Personaesque design could suit this universe well. A Harry Potter game needs to successfully balance the angst/social/school aspect with the combat/spells/high stakes aspect that the books do so well. Some kind of strong central mystery needs to drive proceedings forward while not losing that grounded human core that makes everything work.
My dream Harry Potter RPG would begin by having you create a character, ride the Hogwarts express and begin your school year. The train ride would be lengthy and have specially designed missions and decisions both big and small that, unbeknownst to the player, would completely influence which house you are sorted into upon arrival. Could be cool.
@Jimmer-jammer awesome idea
The HP series is actually a perfect set-up for a great video game. Strong characters and lore, deep magic system, creative setting and interesting art design....
Which means they’ll probably screw it up and the game will be terrible.
I'm hoping for tasteful nudity and graphic violence.
People never learn 😂😂
This is looking like a fun game but don't get your hopes up!! Cyberpunk'd Part II incoming
Please be a traditional single player game and not an mmo/always online/live service game.
That's my number 1 hope!
@theMEGAniggle The hype surrounding this game is not even close to the build up of Cyberpunk. I don't think people need to be discouraged from getting excited for a game just because it might not deliver on every single aspect they'd like to see in it
releasing the game in 2021 will be a good start.
Single player is my preference, but it's 2021 and Online/MTS will almost certainly be a part of the game.
Just hoping for a good story. My fiancé loves Harry Potter so I could see her actually getting into this.
I’d love if they kept it single player and looked to old BioWare for inspiration.
I will not fall for the hype, I will not fall for the hype, I will not...
not a huge HP fan, but this is on my radar. checks all the boxes of what might be a great game for me. need to see some gameplay footage and reviews first though.
@Logonogo I didn't say "be discouraged from getting excited for a game just because it might not deliver on every single aspect they'd like to see in it" I just said don't get your hopes up!
@get2sammyb Judge Rinder is waaaayyy better!
This game kinda reminds me of Star Wars: The Old Republic (mmo)...The premise was super promising but I came to realize I just don’t really enjoy being what felt like some random side character sharing the story with tons of other players in a game filled with progression-gating, meandering side activities & monetization...
Now ideally if you promised me a Harry Potter game that was a mix of Skyrim’s freedom/progression, with Witcher 3 or KOTOR’S maturity/nuance (this game is already looking a tad bit cartoony) & intuitive/challenging combat then i’d be 100% onboard, but alas it’s a pipe dream
@get2sammyb Don’t forget about suddenly cancelled Broomstick League video game, that just disappeared without any proper explanation, from early access and PS4 preorders as well. Developers only stated that they have a lot to share in the future (2020, which is already past us). I still believe Warner used the studio for a new Quidditch title or they incorporated their work into Hogwarts Legacy.
