DONTNOD’s trademark brand of drama will return to the PlayStation 4 this year in Twin Mirror, a game that was announced eons ago and has undergone a bit of a transformation since its debut. Due out on 1st December, we got an early glimpse at some gameplay earlier in the year, and described it as the French developer’s most cinematic effort to date.

This new gameplay trailer teases all kinds of mysteries, as you utilise your grey matter to piece together events using a kind of mind palace. You’ll play as a protagonist named Sam who returns to his hometown of Basswood under unfortunate circumstances. However, what he expects to be a flying visit soon transforms into something much more intense.

Unlike previous titles from the Life Is Strange creator, you’ll be able to play this entire story in one go, so there’ll be no waiting around for subsequent episodes to release. Unfortunately there’s no PlayStation 5 version planned right now, but you will be able to enjoy the campaign via the next-gen system’s backwards compatibility – and it’ll presumably look and run better on the new console, too.
