Oh no! So much for peace of mind, eh? Amazon has been contacting customers with PlayStation 5 pre-orders, warning them that there’s no guarantee they’ll receive their console on launch day. While the correspondence does appear to have been sent to virtually everyone with a pre-order, the message notes that “you may not receive this item on the day it’s released due to high demand”. The retailer continues: “We’ll make every effort to get the item to you as soon as possible.”
The email appears to have been sent to consumers in the United States, as we haven’t heard a peep from the behemoth since our order was confirmed here in the UK. Sony has said that it intends to ship more PS5 consoles than it did PS4 systems in 2013, but we suspect some form of stock scarcity is guaranteed to occur – especially considering the state of the world right now. We’d recommend keeping a cool head and seeing how things play out over the coming weeks.

I really wanted to order mine from Amazon but was not able to. I was able to order one at my local Best Buy for pick up first thing. I now feel like I lucked out if they won't be delivered on release day
@Ryguy2784 I think this is just standard disclaimer stuff. I expect more stock will eventually be made available over the coming weeks. I doubt all the launch day units have sold out already.
@get2sammyb correct a friend received this also amazon germany.
Due to covid priority packages will have an advantage.
Health clothing or food related products.
That's fine. As long as it's here and safe (by the end of the year), it's fine.
I always get a new console at Christmas so I don’t care if my PS5 gets delayed
Even though I haven't pre ordered I'm sure this is nothing to worry about. After the chaos that was the pre order opening this just looks like retailers covering themselves. With a couple of months to go I wouldn't be surprised if there were units still available the day before launch.
I get people's urgency and panic though, I just had the same with the mario switch compilation this week
I've got mine at Amazon UK but have been concerned this might happen. I've been offered the opportunity to purchase one from ShopTo, but i dont see why the situation there will be any different. I'm just going to sit on my existing preorder and will see what happens. If its a few days late, it is what it is. I'll have cyberpunk on ps4 to tie me over
I ordered mine ASAP on Amazon and haven't got this email. I did get one about the FFVIIR World Preview book being delayed to the 2nd of October, though. I also just realised, thanks to the price breakdown, that if it wasn't for VAT the PS5 would've only cost me £374.99. Damn.
I’m not too surprised, I ordered from Very at 9am and they were sold out everywhere else. Very were still taking orders at the end of that day (and probably still are), so I do expect lots of people including me will not get a console at launch.
@Rob_230 I think it could be more like weeks or months late for many people, frankly.
Yeah like Sammy says you can expect retailers to be allocated more stock over the coming months. If you've missed out on the initial wave of pre-orders, I wouldn't worry too much.
And while this is definitely a case of Amazon covering for itself, I think it's safe to assume that there will be issues with delivery given the state that the world's in. We're just going to have to be patient.
@KathyQ Yeah, I know what you mean. It's less about how long you have to wait and more about avoiding the disappointment of getting all excited you'll get it on a certain day only for it to not turn up until some mysterious future date.
I'm very much just waiting, hoping but not expecting much. With the amount of people preordering I'm guessing that unless you ordered in the first 10 minutes, you may have to wait for a second, third or maybe even fourth batch of consoles.
Actually I’m just gunna download mine. Physical is for chumps.
@kyleforrester87 I've got a digital copy of the PS5 going cheap. Just PM me your bank details and it's yours.
It may be to cover late deliveries all forms of delivery have also been effected by covid-19. I got my PS5 from Best Buy in the US. they could not guaranty delivery on launch day. I changed to pick up and I can pick up in local store at 8AM November 12th.
@JohnKarnes I think it's also to do with the practice of overselling. Companies intentionally sell more pre-orders than they know they'll have copies of because a certain amount of customers will cancel. So to avoid having a lot of unsold stuff sitting around not making them any money, they oversell them, based on an educated guess, so even with the inevitable cancellations they'll still sell as close to 100% of their stock as possible.
@kyleforrester87 Sadly, i think that you could be right. Ultimately its not the end of the world, but the way the world is right now, anything could happen quite frankly
Target’s estimated delivery is a few days after release too. I’m disappointed, but can’t complain since I got one.
No * bleep * I actually don't think there's many consoles Day 1. Well not in some European countries that's for certain. I'm not sure there's any chance to get one in Sweden this side of Christmas. The allocation here is piffling.
I got an Amazon pre-order. Really hope they actually deliver on release date. This is US btw so they sold out in like 5 minutes. I don't think stock should be an issue.
I know it's not entirely on Sony (ex: they can't help it that people were able to order through Amazon US via links shared on social media prior their listing for either model even going live on the Amazon website), but some of the higher ups at Sony deserve to lose their jobs for how poorly this has been managed, starting with Jim Ryan and their head of worldwide marketing.
PlayStation is by far Sony's most important product and brand these days, and despite having months, if not years to prepare for this, it has been a complete disaster. I don't know whether to be more irritated as a customer or angry and concerned as a Sony shareholder.
Mine is an Amazon preorder and tbh I’m totally fine with this. As long as I get it before December and I know it’s on it’s way I’m not upset about having to wait I get it. I just want to know I’m going to get the thing.
Probably means I won't get my PS5 from Amazon until a week or so later, which is fine since I can wait a week or so like the fellows over in the UK.
Great to see the demand for the V is there. I want unable to preorder one and I basically just decided to wait 6 months to a year before joining the V family.
It just makes sense. I dont know why this is news
I will be SOOOOOOOOOOO DISAPPOINTED if I don't get my Pre-ordered PS5 day 1 :-/ Saying that i still got 7 big PS4 games still to get thru Hmm I keep saying that because finding time to play is getting more and more difficult at the moment. Oh well, no rush I guess.
My concern is that there are plenty to go around and they drip feeding the supply as nothing feeds sales like scarcity of an item.
See the toilet roll debacle earlier this year as case in point. If someone thinks they can just pick some up next week when they run out they will but if it is is rare to find any you buy when you don't actually need to.
Plenty of PS5s to go round doesn't create free advertising like PS5 sold out everywhere does. Then a store gets a shipment. They all sell, them another,...
Amazon always do this
This is not news
Atm I havent had an email, I will update when I do, maybe it depends how long after they put them up will depend if you get an email, i literally waited from 9am refresh every single second on my phone app and it kept doing errors then finally it worked and I preordered no problem so I dunno.
Edit...if i could log into my shopto account it would be handy coz atm it just won't let me at all not even to just buy a normal item.
Everything is quiet so far in Amazon Brazil, but the planned date range is actually November 24-26 around here.
I ordered mine straight from Sony everyone wigging about not getting in on time go straight to the source. Mind you there ain’t no pussy footing around like putting 50 bucks down your laying down full price straight up I’m in the land of aus so that’s $750 large 🤙
@get2sammyb have you seen the horrible situation with Argos, Very and John Lewis where with Argos people didn't receive confirmation email and the in chat with Argos support they told people if you didn't get confirmation with in 2 hours it didn't got through. Then very and John Lewis have been canceling orders, seems they maybe allowed to many to go through.

@InvaderJim I got a text confirmation from Argos 47 hours and 56 minutes after ordering. Nothing before that, but my order was processing in my account, so I guess as long as it's there, it should be okay for anyone that's worried..
