If you've been looking forward to the Marvel's Avengers beta, you might want to listen up. Confirmed via an IGN First post, the pre-release taster will start next month on Friday 7th August for PlayStation 4 players who have pre-ordered the game. The Crystal Dynamics-developed title will then enter an open beta phase a week later where everyone can join in and sample the upcoming superhero experience.
This beta is said to contain a little bit of everything the game has to offer. Creative director Shaun Escayg said: "We built the beta in such a way that you can experience most of things that you’ll be doing in the full game. That means playing a piece of the original single-player Avengers story campaign, fighting through co-op missions, experiencing hero and world progression, and exploring War Zones and DROP ZONES, a new kind of mission we’ll talk about in the upcoming War Table on July 29. This beta is meaty, but it’s only a small part of the finished game"
As Escayg mentioned, Square Enix has confirmed a second War Table livestream for Wednesday 29th July. This event will detail everything you can play in the Marvel's Avengers beta. Don't forget that if you purchase the game, then you'll be entitled to a free upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version. For more information on PS4 to PS5 upgrades, head on through the link.

No thanks, I won't be buying it as I don't care for this structure in a game grinding the same quests over and over for loot
I may check out the beta but very little interest in this one. I just cannot get into this type of game. I would have much preferred a single player/co-op avengers game.
I'll certainly try it out but as others mentioned it's not a style of game I like. Still I enjoyed the main campaign in Destiny/Division so if the story is fun enough I could be happy enough to get it for that.
Can’t believe Square Enix put Deus Ex on ice in favor of this live service bullsh—....... that’s modern Triple A gaming for ya 🙄 This game is gonna flop hard, you can’t tell me it won’t.
Could I theoretically pre-order from ShopTo, get access to the beta then cancel my pre-order if the game is woeful?
Getting Destiny/Anthem vibes from the gameplay trailers... Gonna play the beta first before deciding on whether I'm gonna get the game or not.

@JesWood13 you'd think Disney would make sure any ip they own after the battlefront2 controversy would tend to avoid anything looking like grind or micro transactions. I'm still unsure what kind of game this is but it's increasingly sounding like something like a ftp mobile game just with a bigger budget.
I'll definitely be interested in having a try of the open beta, see how it plays. Tend to buy one game a month max and more tempted by the Amalur remake in September at the moment.
