Originally released on the PS2 all the way back in 2003, Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne remains a beloved entry in Atlus' role-playing franchise. For those totally out of the loop, Shin Megami Tensei birthed the Persona series, and shares many similarities in terms of gameplay.
Anyway, a remaster of Nocturne was announced for Switch during Nintendo's latest Direct showcase. Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne Remaster HD Remaster, to give the game its full title, will also release on PlayStation 4 later this year in Japan, and in Spring 2021 here in the West.

Seems like this is a Remastered Version of the Japan exclusive SMT III: Maniax Chronicles thag replaced Dante with Raidou from the Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner Games. Im very happy with this change 🥰
One of the best games under the SMT banner!
Looking forward for this! 2021 will give me two Shin Megami Games!
Nice, didn't expect that!
This game came before persona .and persona is the better game.this goes to dhow you just because you made something first that it doesn't mean its better.same as system shock.but bioshock is way better.looking forward to this game.i remember it was on psn on my ps3.word up son
2021 is a big year for SMT.
Y'all are in for a treat.
That was a surprise. I'm up for giving it a try.
Never played this, super exciting news! Shocked a Persona 3 remaster wasn't first to be honest but this might be at least partially to promote SMTV.
Edit: didn't realize we also got SMTV news today. Looks fantastic.
Would’ve prefer Persona 3 but who knows maybe later
I hope no one is expecting an easy time like Persona 5.
Makes me hopeful for Persona 3. Gonna buy this day one, we need some challenging jrpg.
I'm kinda sad we didn't get SMTV on PS, I hope we get it even if it takes a year to wait, I have a Switch but damn would like to play an SMT game on PS console
As a Switch owner I can confidently say that I have finally experienced joy again
So Atlus has remastered Persona 4 Golden and now it's doing Nocturne. I'd say the chances of us getting more remasters (Persona 3? Digital Devil Saga?) are becoming increasingly likely.
One of the best games ever made and honestly even better than the Persona games. Where’s 3 though?
did not see this coming. this game is not for the faint of heart — it can be frustratingly difficult as far as jrpg's go. i would prefer the digital devil saga to be remastered but perhaps those are being considered as well.
FINALLY, a real Shin Megami Tensei game.
@playstation1995 In, your opinion ,Persona is the better game.
There fixed it for you.
Cool, now give us persona 4 golden remake with persona 5 engine atlus 😃
@Porco I hope there's a new more fair difficulty option, with the addition of the original difficulty for purist.
Awesome. I really like Nocturne.
I would also like to see SMT:DDS 1 & 2 please Atlus.
will it work on ps5?
@johnny30 yeah, it'll be released after the mandate is enacted that says all PS4 games must work flawlessly on PS5, a mandate that I believe is already in motion.
And dont you dare making it digital only.
I own the PS2 version.
Now We Just Need Digital Devil Saga.
The best Atlus game to date. Day one.
I only played my PS2 Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2.
They've also confirmed there's going to be an easy difficulty called Merciful. This could be really helpful for new players having a difficult time with Nocturne's standard difficulty. I'm so excited for everyone to have the opportunity to play this!
@Ralizah A Treat? Or a Bitter Pill When People Hit That First Roadblock With You Know Who.
@wiiware I'd love for that to be the reason why PS4/PS5 isn't getting the version that PC got.
Exclusive remake only found on console.
@KidBoruto At first I was going to buy p4 golden on pc but change my mind after seeing that graphics on pc monitor. Persona 4 golden is great on psvita but it's not good on big screen tv, I'm okay if atlus sells persona 4 golden remake (with persona 5 engine) at full price.
This is amazing news, been meaning to play this game for years now, as a huge persona fan I felt guilty for only having played "Strange journey".
Atlus are lowkey one of the best developers globally.
I've never played SMT so I'm interested in this.
