Prior to the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man, the PlayStation 4 remake of Ratchet & Clank was Insomniac Games’ most successful game. Since purchasing the Burbank-based developer, Sony’s been very clear in iterating that the Lombax has a big future ahead of him, and now rumours are swirling that the platform holder’s lining up a PlayStation 5 iteration for the next-gen console’s launch this holiday.
Sacred Symbols host Colin Moriarty has been hinting at the existence of a new Ratchet & Clank for a little while now, but since it’s never been officially announced, he believes that it’s been converted to the PS5. Speaking on his podcast, he said: “I feel like that's going to be a launch game, the Ratchet & Clank game that's long been in development at Insomniac.”
It makes sense, of course. Ratchet & Clank is not only a popular series, but it’s also the perfect property to showcase the power of Sony’s new hardware. Furthermore, the franchise is highly marketable, with identifiable characters that could very well comprise a big part of the PS5’s marketing campaign. Assuming this rumour is true, then we’re very excited indeed, because you can be sure Insomniac’s going to really push the boat out here.

That would be awesome if true.
Makes sense to have a 'child friendly' game to launch with....
Ratchet stole the platformer launch crown from Knack.
Knack never forgets.
I'll gladly take a new Ratchet game.
@Ken_Kaniff well there's Always godfall…
also can't realy complain about new sony IP's this gen with the likes of spiderman, days gone, death stranding, and yes even knack.
sequels are good in a great franshise.
Would love a new a ratchet on ps5. Also a new sly and jak please!
Nice, the first ps4 game is a really good game with superb graphics, ratchet 2 and horizon zd 2 will be a benchmark for ps5 graphics I think
Id love this, although im gutted we havent had a native Ratchet and Clank this gen, regardless of how good the remake of Ratchet 1 was.
Given its unlikely i will be getting Ps5 for a couple of years after release, it will be a shame to miss out on it - at least until i can afford to pick up the new console
@jdv95 Oh I agree about this gen. New IPs have been great. Just saying as far as launch titles R&C wouldnt get me to buy one. As far as Godfall I'll have to wait and see, I played Destiny and didnt really care for that style of game. Might wait a year or two and see what's to come. My backlog on PS4 is so big I've got plenty to play, so no real rush on next gen unless Sony has some secrets for the reveal that blows my mind.
If it's true, will be a graphical showcase for sure.
That’d be a great way to kick off the gen. Like Knack, only...good.
Well much like the PS4, when Ratchet comes, so does a new console to my house
I already said it before but my prediction was Ratchet and Clank, Socom and whatever Bluepoint is doing as launch games.
Would love a new one, more in line with Tools of Destruction. The series peaked there for me.
if i'm honest i would prefer another Jak and Daxter but a new Ratchet game is also nice
"Ratchet & Knack: The Search for Clank" seems like it could be a winner.
Definitely happy for the R&C fans but i really hope to see A LOT more brand new IPs.
Wasn’t a fan of the PS4 game. It was so weird how much characterisation they stripped out of the story. Events happened because they’d happened in the original, but they removed enough scenes that not all those events made sense anymore.
@jdv95 good point, days gone, DS, horizon def still have that new IP smell lol. Looking forward to sequels
I really hope this is true Ratchet & Clank is a amazing game's.
as much as i like the R&C games (well some of them anyway), not sure i'd buy a PS5 to play one if it was the only thing worth playing when it launches.
I can not wait to see the absolute mayhem that I am able to unleash on screen at once on the ps5 with this game. PS4's R&C allowed a phenomenal amount of stuff at once without even a stutter (dozens of enemies, mr zurkons moving and shooting, millions of bolts flying around, multiple weapons being laid around the arenas whilst shooting and strafing and all the other effects, all whilst banging out a discoball and having the entire screen DANCE was just madness). That engine they use is something special, I can not wait to see what they do with the ps5. Colour me intrigued.
Hopefully the game ends up being excellent if the rumour is true. I did love the PS2 games, but wasn't keen on the PS4 one.
I hope it's set after Into the Nexus, not another remake and it's a full price release.
Nah this is next month's rumoured PS plus game!
I enjoyed my time with the Ratchet and Clank PS4 remake, although that's the extent of my familiarity with the franchise. A sequel would make for an attractive launch title.
Not going to lie, I’d like to have insomniac working on any number of their other IP, or something new then another R&C
dont know how they can top the graphics from the ps4 remaster is was like watching a really high quality animated film - but if they want to try i cant wait - loved that game (never played the originals so another remaster if just fine with me)
My 6-year-old daughter just got into playing games and she loves these character-type leads. I’ve not introduced her to R&C yet but I can’t wait for her to get into the entire series.
I have no doubt it will continue to look beyond amazing. I just hope they can freshen up the gameplay a bit. I love the games but it does need some fresh elements.
Ill pick one up with my PS5 if true. One of my favorite games for years now.
Still prefer Tools of Destruction on the PS3 but a new R&C? yes please!
Was I the only one who liked R&C Gladiator
Waaaaaaaaaanita
Lawn Ninjas in PS5 Graphics 😲
Which part was with Courtney Gears i loved that one. 😆
This would be absolutely fantastic. I love the remake. I feel bad though that I never finished it. I got stuck on the final boss and eventually gave up. Am I the only one who found it frustrating?
