The folks over at Sony Interactive Entertainment's Japan Studio have had a leadership shakeup which sees Astro Bot Rescue Mission director and producer Nicolas Doucet step into the leading role. Word of what happened to former head Allen Becker hasn't gotten out just yet, but the change will mean that Doucet now leads Sony's group of internal Japanese studios into the PlayStation 5 generation.
Nicolas Doucet is best known for his role in bringing the incredible PlayStation VR exclusive Astro Bot Rescue Mission to market, although he also worked on EyeToy: Play 3 in a producer role and helped out on a number of Bionicle projects in the early 2000s. As such, it's clear that Doucet loves taking advantage of new and innovative technology at PlayStation.
Throughout the PlayStation 4 generation, SIE Japan Studio put out the likes of Knack, Knack 2, and Gravity Rush 2. Meanwhile, it also aided development on Bloodborne, The Last Guardian, and Everybody's Golf alongside other studios. It's safe to say that Doucet has quite the task on his hands if he aims to replicate the quality output of the team's PS4 efforts, but what do you hope SIE Japan Studio is working on for PS5 right now? Knack 3, perhaps? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Astro Bot is one of the games of the generation for me. Absolutely amazing game.
Really hope we get a sequel.
As long as he give us Bloodborne 2 I'm good.
Well deserved. Astrobot completely changed the game for VR and has to go down as one of Sony's finest achievements.
If any game needs a sequel its probably Astrobot - or at least a new game that takes advantage of everything that was learnt from the innovations Astrobot presented. That underwater level still blows my mind, and is my go to every time i am showing off VR to people
Astrobot is, quite frankly, amazing and I hope they produce more titles in the same vein.
Fair play to him. Doucet and his team knocked it out of the park with Astro Bot.
I can only add to the raving reviews, it has been one of the most phenomenal games of this generation; only one that managed to keep me grinning throughout the whole campaign like a child experiencing its first moment of wonder. Sequel MUST be guaranteed, they must know this is a sleeper hit (only affected by VR adoption). Can't think what they could come up with next. And yes, that underwater level is something else.
I want AAA ape escape 4 and bloodborne 2
@SoulChimera I can count on one hand the amount of games I've enjoyed more than Astro Bot this generation, even then I'd have four fingers and a thumb left over
@stuzster "Yes, people have stated that a Mario game in VR would likely wipe the floor with it"
We may never know but the biggest compliment that I can pay it is that I felt like I was playing a Mario game in VR
I'm sure some will take this to be part of Sony's westernisation plans, although given the previous head was also a westerner, it seems unlikely.
Great news, Astrobot was absolutely fantastic. Sort of like The Witcher 3, by which I mean it really spoils you by how much it raises the bar.
Astrobot is the best PSVR game ever made and until there is a sequel will likely stay that way.
everyone rags on knack - and while the first one was pretty average and unforgettable the second game was really quite good and i enjoyed it - so if the trend continues knack 3 should be amazing
