January is looking like a rather dry month for video games, but that's no bad thing when exciting indie titles such as this one is filling the void between bigger releases. Flat Heroes is out on PlayStation 4 next week on 14th January and if the launch trailer above is anything to go by, it'll be a whole lot of intense fun alone or with friends.

You'll control a small square within a grid and it appears to be your job to survive the oncoming onslaught of bullets, objects, and whatever else the game throws at you. Jumping, dodging, and dashing will be your three routes to safety across more than 300 levels, with boss fights and daily challenges thrown in to keep you coming back for more.

It looks like it'll be a cool little experience to dip in and out of when you please, and the game's Steam reviews back from when it launched on PC in September 2016 prove it has something going for it. The handcrafted levels received very positive reviews from players while Rock Paper Shotgun said: "Flat Heroes, like Super Meat Boy before it, is a masterclass in game-feel." This sounds like one worth keeping your eye on, but are you interested? Dodge and dash into the comments below.
