No Man’s Sky: Beyond, the latest version of Hello Games’ revived space exploration outing, will crash-land onto retail stores from 10th September in North America and 11th September in Europe. The physical copy will ship with all of the latest updates pre-installed, and will boast brand new box art – including that all-important PlayStation VR iconography.
We recently revisited the release, and came away impressed: “No Man's Sky is now packing a pretty hefty amount of things to do, which is pretty good when you remember no one initially had a clue what you were meant to do at all.” You can read our full impressions of the latest update through here.

Perfect! Time to retire ye olde launch disc.
Still got my original disk. I actually prefer the artwork on that.
Gotta agree, there's so much to do now. Its a totally different game. I've started 2 new games since the update: one for normal "2D" mode, the other for VR.
To celebrate they should release a Pro patch so it looks better on the VR.
Just bought this off the PS Store because it was cheaper than all the retail prices. It's changed so much since the last time I had it. You can even crash your ship into the ground!
Gave it another go but in PSVR. Wow very impressive. Though you can tell the lack of quality in the PSVR version, sure hope they release a PS4 Pro patch for PSVR. I tried Permadeath in PSVR, but I didn't last long at all, I was too busy gazing at everything and had forgotten to charge my hazard unit. I got burnt to a crisp.
Double dipping for this.😁
So this is just a re-release with all the updates on it? Doesn't seem worth buying a second time for that. I guess someday it might be useful, in the distant future when Sony takes down support for PS4 and you can no longer get updates...
Why isn't Minecraft in VR already or in 4K HDR?
NMS makes Mojang look like a bunch of slackers.
That's a strange one. The disc has probably already 'gone gold' as they say, and yet there have been two large patches since the Beyond update.
Since you're going to have to download a hefty update anyway, there seems little point in releasing a new version on disc; you're not really going to save anyone any download time... even new players.
That said, maybe it's just to boost the prices again. I've noticed this new disc version is listed at £24.99 on Amazon, and the price on original copies has gone back up to around £35 with third-party sellers.
@Neolit That's why I said distant future. When the PS4 is as old as SNES is today, for example. We really don't know what to expect with online services like this. Closest examples are things like PS2, Xbox and Wii/DS which all no longer have any online support. Any updates games got on those platforms are largely unavailable now. PS360WiiU is probably next and that should tell us more about how companies intend to handle this - since those systems used many more updates and internet features.
Also it's probably for the clueless casual customers just to tell them "PLAYSTATION VR MODE INCLUDED" on the cover.
This was a smart move considering how radically different the game is now compared to the initial launch. At least now, physical lovers can buy this and feel confident that they will own the game into the apocalypse.
