Sir Dan is being resurrected yet again on PlayStation 4 in the remake of MediEvil, and it's not looking too shabby these days. Early trailers were pretty rough around the edges, but some recent off-screen footage suggested a big improvement. Sony's just released the above video with some brand new gameplay clips, and it looks pretty good.
We also hear from two of the folks at developer Other Ocean Interactive. They speak about revisiting the original PSone title, their efforts to restore the game as you remember it, and their favourite levels and locations. The jury is still out on the retro remake, but this brief new glimpse is quite promising.

It's not going to be amazing but I see no reason why it can be a decent remake. If nothing else it's a great call back to the PS1 days.
Also since Sony have PlayStation Productions now, I would love to see either a Medievil stop-motion movie or an animated series.
easily on my top 5 ps1 games ever along with syphon filter and parasite Eve.cant wait for this game.word ☝ up son
Super excited for this. If this game does well enough, here's hoping Sony could do the same with its other dormant IPs (hopefully).
The fact they mention being given the source code and talking about bosses that they never managed to put in the original has me pretty intrigued!
@playstation1995 I never played Parasite Eve 1 but i loved 2 and Syphon Filter.
Lets get Legend of Dragoon while where at it.
Dino Crisis, Legend of Legaia, Koudelka, Breath of Fire 4. 😃

Everyone seems to be really excited for this, am I the only one who isn't? It just doesn't look good, graphically or game play wise...
@nookie_egg
One answer. Personality and charm. Oh, and nostalgia of course. Gameplaywise? It was always a little bit janky and rough around the edges. Sequel was much better in this regard.
Oh, and I was there dayone in 1998 and preordered now
@Prime_Objective I played the original, and I think a bit of 2, (though not the psp remake of 1) and I wasn't that arsed about it back then to be honest, so guess that maybe explains it for me. But even looks wise, it's just not that great. Nothing here that even a ps3 couldn't have handled imo. Hope all you who are looking to play the game enjoy it, but is doing nothing at all for me.
@nookie_egg I guess not having microtransactions make it look that way. That's how I feel about Fortnite.
@GodGamer but Fortnite is a game designed to run on as many systems (with varying power) as possible, and to gain as many players as possible. This is a ps4 exclusive remake of a ps1 game, it could and probably should at least look a lot better. Also, there's a lot of stuff with no mtx that just look like they play better. Each to their own I guess.
I'm really excited by this and hearing them talk about makes me excited too. I wonder if they'll elaborate on some of the unfinished ideas and add them in.
Either way, I'm enjoying the way this is shaping up nicely.
I didn’t recall that there were so many different enemies in the game. 56? That’s amazing by today’s standards and it’s cool that they’re earnestly working to recreate so many of them. I’m really excited for this one, both in terms of feeding nostalgia and seeing what new ideas and innovations they bring to the table.
